It Wasn't your fault

Charles pov (continued from 1st book)

"What are you doing here Jeb? Max told me about you. What you did." I said. "It was for her own good. She will never understand. Gazzy wasn't in the explosion. He was taken right before the bomb went off. That's why you didn't find the body. Now here he is, I'm going." he put the boy down and walked away. I could tell that Gazzy was week, fragile. Before Jeb had totally disappeared I asked "Why return him." I knew the answer, but I wanted to hear him say it out loud. He responded with "I'm dying. This is my final act to show Max that I'm sorry for what happened. Then he totally disappeared into the woods never to be seen again. I wheel over to Gazzy and tried to pick him up, sadly he was a bit to heavy and I almost fell out of my wheelchair. So by the third time I called Max from inside and told her to come to were I was. She flipped out for a minute about everyone around her being frozen but she got over it. When she came outside she saw me sitting next to a unconscious Gazzy, with my hands above his head. I was trying to see what had happened after the explosion, but it was as if his mind was blank. I will try again later. Max ran all the way over to us and then she looked at Gazzy, then at me, then back at Gazzy and she then dropped to the ground and hugged him and whispered something I couldn't hear. Then she picked him up and then looked at me again, this time as if she was saying thank you, I don't know what you did. Probably a lot of whaaaaaatttt was going on to in that mind of hers. I wheeled in and we took Gazzy to the "clinic" as we call it and when we got there Nudge, Iggy and Angel were all sitting there crying and looking at Gazzy. I had told Jean to bring them here after Jeb had left and before Max had joined me. Angel just stood there looking at me like how?. I will tell her later. They don't need to know how right now. I wheeled out and gave them some time alone. After all they are looking at a unconscious boy who should be blown up right now and yet here he is fragile, but alive.

Max pov

The date is March 1. Angel's birthday. I'm glad that Gazzy is alive so her birthday won't be a disaster. Gazzy was always the one who planned her birthdays. I could never bake let alone put up party decorations. I am not that girly girly everyone wants me to be. So while Gazzy, who has woken up and is still in the "clinic" with his sister I'm out here watching TV. The first thing Gazzy said when he woke up was Angel. That's how close those two kids are. I was watching channel 9(the news channel because, who doesn't love watching crimes and people getting arrested and beaten up! Oh yeah I'm the only one who actually enjoys it.) What catches my eye is in big letters and says WAR MIGHT BE INEVITABLE WITH MUTANTS. The lady talks about fights that have been going on against mutants and humans. Wow there talking as if we are not from earth. Really people, are you that messed up? I get off the couch and walk down the hall to the professors study. I knock on the door. "Come in Max." he says into my mind.

I still haven't gotten over the part of him being able to read my mind. I open the door and walk in. "Professor have you seen what's on the news?" I ask. "Yes there was a fight in downtown Manhattan last night. The government is thinking of passing a law so that mutants can become extinct. There is this new drug that has come out that will kill all the mutant g-nomes in a body. Making someone "normal-We get interrupted by a raging Wolverine and an angry Storm. have you seen Storm when she is angry well it looks like this. Picture a huge black cloud following you around every single minute whenever you get angry. Also the occasional rain. This is Storm

Right now. I think I should get out of here. Now. But the professor stops me and tells me to stay. "There was another attack just now on the area where they are keeping the drug professor! The president just declared war over mutants." says Storm.

I know it is a short first chapter but I will try to post the next one soon. It will be much longer.
