Chapter 3

Charles pov

I wake up to the smell of bacon and toast, Kitty must be making breakfast downstairs for the Xmen. I get into my

wheelchair and go down the hall to the elevator. There I meet a very hyper Angel. "Hello professor!" she says. I do not need this much excitement at 4 in the morning I think to myself. I mumble back "Angel." Then I nod and get off the elevator. When I get down to the kitchen Kitty, Storm, Jean, Max and Liz(Elizabeth) are sitting eating breakfast. Liz is my niece. She was raised here all her life since my sister Sarah died. Sarah's husband John died with her in a car accident. I have kept Liz as a secret to everyone, they think she is just my favorite student. Angel walks in with a big smile on her face and sits down next me and Liz. I tell Angel about Liz. Angel asks "How old are you Liz?" "14." she says. They keep talking and I zone out of the conversation till Storm walks over to me with a smartphone and says "Professor have you seen this?!" I look at the phone shocked. She is holding up the news app on her phone and in big letters it says "PRESIDENT ASSASSINATED BY NEW ALLEGIANCE MUTANT GROUP". We were suppose to meet with the president 3 hours from now. The mission is now completely going to be changed. We are going to Washington still but instead of seeing the president we are going to find this Allegiance group. I wheel over to Liz and grab her hand and we walk till we are where no one can hear us. "Liz I'm going to need you to do something for me ok?" I say. "Anything Uncle Charles (she calls me that when we aren't around people)." she says. "You are going to have to shape shift into me." I say. "But I've never done anything past a gorilla! I haven't gotten to Human forms yet!" she says. "Well there is a first time for everything. Now come on and lets go to my office. The idea is that I can tell everyone Liz is sick in her room and then Liz will transform into me and take my place on the mission. When she does this I can go to Sarebro and track down the allegiance group. Fooling the Allegiance into thinking we don't know where they are. This is either going to be the end of a very short war or the beginning of a very long war.

Liz pov

It's time to get on the jet and I have a straight telepathic link to my uncle. He can tell me what to do. The good thing about my powers is I can manipulate the persons powers when I transform into them. This is my first time. I hope it goes well. Wish me luck! I wheel over to the jet and Jean helps me in. The professor talks to me telepathically and says "See if you can detect the alliance, when you find them go into the leaders mind I found him on Sarebro his name is J Simmons." I ask "What's his first name?" "J. I can't find anything else on him. It's like his mind has been completely wiped. Your going to have to go into his mind and find out about him. I'm sorry I can't do it from here." He says. I ask "You can do that?! I'm mean I can do that. I'm still really confused. This is so cool!" I hear him laugh and he says "Yes now get back to finding him, Jean might think something is off if you keep talking to me." I get back to scanning and when I find them I tell Jean. She lands and we get off. I freeze the leader, who is standing in front of me. Then Jean throws all the guns across the forest, probably even farther then that if I know her. Angel looks at me and I nod to her, she is the only one who knows who I actually am. She forces the men onto there knees and then cuffs them. Max takes them one at a time and puts them in a private jet that will be taken by Storm and Kitty. We had gotten almost everyone on,the only one left was J Simmons. I walk up to him and unfreeze him with my mind since he is tied up and sitting I look into his mind and can't find anything. By the third try I was completely off guard and everything happened so fast. First Angel was walking by me, J somehow got untied, all of a sudden he grabbed something out of his back pocket. It was a gun. I got out of the wheelchair and launched in front of Angel and then I was on the ground on top of Angel. I had been shot in the shoulder! Why did the guy aim at Angel? What was so important about a 7 year old? I sat up fast looking to see if the guy still had the gun. Jean had taken it from him and was coming over to Angel and I. My head was spinning and I began to change back into myself. Jean looked shocked and worried, Logan was not even fazed, Angel was still under me so I couldn't see her expression, Max was staring at me, and J Simmons started crying when I changed back in to myself. I blocked out the pain and stood up to let Angel get out from under me, but I was to weak. Then Angel gently lifted me up in the air and laid me back into the ground next her her. I thanked her and she looked as though she was going to start crying. I heard Jean's muffled voice, but it seemed distant. I did hear my Uncle's voice though screaming "Liz! Liz are you ok?" I didn't respond because the whole world was spinning around me and then I fainted. Right before I fainted I did realize one thing, why J was crying when he saw me, why he looked so shocked. J....John. Could

he be my father?
