Lee's Observations
I never understood how a person can be attracted to someone's laugh. I mean, it's just a sound we make when we're happy. Or when we find something funny. But I guess I can't say anything anymore, because I think I'm attracted to Bea's laugh.
•••Like every human being, there are things we regret:
Not studying for a quiz.
Dropping your phone.
And there's a bunch of other stuff, but I can't remember any right now.
Anyways, being a human being myself, I regret things too-
"Oh my god, and there was this one time Lee screamed in the hallway because he lost his favorite bracelet."
Like inviting my friends who know all the embarrassing stories about me.
"Aw, cute," Nima laughs. She nods her head at Wes to continue. "Tell me another one."
I let out a tired groan and slouch further into the couch. My eyes wander over the scene in front of me:
Wes and Ben are currently entertaining Nima with stories of my childhood.
Molly and Mary are taking pictures of each other.
And Lucas is trying to show Bea a magic trick.
I hear a ring from my phone and check the screen. It's a text from Jack:
jack from calculus: sorry. i cant come. hw ☹️
I quickly send a reply.
lol it's okay. good luck with hw
"Oh shit, wait," I hear Lucas say, causing me to look in his direction. "Wait, sorry. Lemme try again. I got this."
Bea chuckles softly. "It's okay," she says, smiling in amusement. "You got this."
"Okay," Lucas mumbles, as he fumbles with the cards in his hands. "Pick a card."
Bea picks out a card and takes a peek, making sure Lucas can't see.
"Okay," Lucas says hesitantly. "In your hand is... a ten? And it's the heart one."
Bea smiles apologetically. "Sorry," she says softly, turning her card around for him to see. "Queen of hearts."
Lucas sighs in defeat and places the cards on the table. "Well, I tried."
"Oh my god!" Mary suddenly exclaims. "Let's play truth or dare."
"But that's fucking cliche," Nima says, taking out her phone. "Let's go to the dollar store down the street."
"Sure, lets go," I agree with a shrug. I'm bored anyways, so why not. "Everyone's in?"
"Oh, right now?" Molly asks, sitting up from her cousin's lap.
