I grabbed my bag off the kitchen counter and headed out the door for school. After about a 12 minute walk I finally reached the edge of campus. As I walked into the main building I immediately heard a familiar voice from the main office. "What do you mean my major is government studies?! Are you crazy?! I'm supposed to be a fashion major." The voice yelled in annoyance. With a smile on my face I walked into the office and slung my arm around my best friend's shoulder. "What's wrong Mae?" I asked her. Maela Izumi, or Mae or izumi, has been my best friend for 12 years.
"My major got switched! They put me in government studies!" She whined. "You? Government studies? Yikes!" I chortled. "Please help me." She pleaded. "Fine, fine." I replied giving into her request. "Yay!" She exclaimed happily. "There must be some mistake ma'am, Miss Izumi is supposed to be a fashion major." I explained to the woman sitting behind the desk. "I'm sorry but that's not what it says in her file." She said coldly. "Well then I guess you will need to fix it." I sassed. "I'm sorry?" She scoffed. "Good, you should be. I would expect a university of this level to not screw up something as big as someone's major. And if they do, I'd expect them to resolve the issue immediately. Now if you don't want to fix it then that's perfectly fine, I can go straight to your boss and have them fix it instead. If you intend to keep your job however, I highly suggest you fix this issue yourself." I told her.
"I'm sorry but who do you think you are?" She spat. "Braelynn Simerra, I'm sure you've been warned about me. Now are you going to help my friend here or not?" I questioned. I normally would never talk so harshly to someone but since my family is the one that started this university, I am extremely offended by the lack of organization. Plus, I know that a major switch is not all that difficult to change if it was a mistake made by the university and not the student. Therefore, I am very agitated that she did not quickly resolve this issue and apologize when it was brought to her attention. Because of that, I couldn't help but speak to her in the tone that I did.
"My apologies Miss Simerra, I will fix this right away." The lady said as her eyes widened in freight. "Thank you." I replied before turning to Izumi. "Sayonara my love." I told her before saluting her and walking out the door. As soon as I exited I saw a guy staring at me with a smirk on his face. "Well damn." He said with a deep chuckle. I sent him a wink before walking off in the opposite direction.
Once I got to the lecture hall my first class was in, I found a seat in the middle of the room but on the end of the row next to the walkway that cut the hall in half. About five minutes into the lecture I saw someone sneak into the lecture quietly. The professor was oblivious and all the other students seemed to be as well. I saw the guy who had skimming over all the seats with his eyes before they eventually met mine. Of course the only open seat was next to me... I saw him close his eyes in frustration. He would have to cut through to the middle of the room to reach the seat. As he made his way over to me he accidentally knocked into a few people. Right before he reached the open seat he tripped over someone's bag and started to fall. I quickly put my arms out and he managed to somehow fall onto them gracefully.
Using my upper body strength I managed to successfully stand him back up without making too much commotion. His eyes met with mine again and he bowed in thanks before quickly sitting down next to me. Not even a minute later he was frantically reaching into his bag looking for something. "Breathe." I told him with a small giggle before handing him one of my extra pens. "Thank you." He said as he took a deep breath and took the pen from my hand. He sent me a quick smile before taking out his notebook to jot down various things the professor said. Even though he had already averted his attention away from me I still sent him a smile back before starting to take some of my own notes as well.
When the lecture ended he turned to look at me again and handed me back my pen. "Thanks again. I'm Taehyung by the way." He informed me. "Taeyoung?" I questioned. "No, Taehyung." He corrected with a laugh. "Ah Taehyung! Nice to meet you, I'm Braelynn." I told him as I stuck out my hand in introduction. "Nice to meet you Braelynn." He replied shaking my hand. "Where are you from?" I asked him curiously. It was evident he wasn't from the US due to his thick accent. "Korea. South Korea, not North!" He said quickly. I giggled before responding, "I figured as much." His face lit up from embarrassment. "Well it was lovely to meet you Taehyung. If you ever need to borrow a pen again let me know." I informed him kindly. He thanked me and said goodbye as well.
