Emma's POV
Today is the day; my 17th birthday!!!! I roll out of bed, get my slippers on and walk to my bathroom to brush my teeth (no one likes dragon breath). I brush through my mane of hair and put it back up into a bun. Justin must have left early this morning after we watched Tangled and I fell asleep.
I take a deep breath and walk out of my room. It's dark in the house and it doesn't look like anyone is here; my parents are out of town so I mean no one else is here, but I kinda hoped someone would surprise me or something. It's 9:30 in the morning, and I have not gotten one single "Happy Birthday!" message. After I make myself some birthday breakfast, I jump in the shower and get ready. I do light make up and curl my hair lightly. I put on my favorite blue maxi dress that has a cross cross back. I check my phone and I have one message from Justin. I click on it and put it on speakerphone: "Hey baby I hope you slept well. Hey, Scoot is having a party tonight and he wants us to go, but we're gonna have to go separately because I'm gonna be with him all day so I'll just get a ride back with you and sleepover? Alright I love you. Bye babe."
Is this some kind of sick joke? I'm almost positive everyone is forgetting my birthday! I decided to text my mom and see how they're trip is going; no response. I call McKayla to see if she wants to go to the mall? Nothing. Even Ryan won't answer my texts. I decided to look in the bag Justin bought yesterday at Walgreens. Two bottles of hairspray, about nine pregn...oh my god...I just realized that I haven't had my period and maybe we haven't been that careful...FUCK. I pick them all up and bring them to my bathroom. I use only one of the tests and place it on the counter. I ask Siri to set a timer for 10 minutes as I lay down on my bed and talk to myself because I'm so nervous. It was the longest 10 minutes of my life. I walk back into the bathroom, where my fate lies. Positive.
