Chapter 1

Kallie's POV

Today was another adoption day. We have these 3 times a week. I was very nervous, because most of the time when people come, all they do is stare at me, then move on.

But for some reason I was feeling very confident today, so I dressed in my best clothes, which were, a pair of jeans, and a simple t-shirt. As you can see, we don't get much here at the orphanage. I always need help to get my shoes on, so I called one of the workers to help me. When that was finished, I wheeled myself to the elevator and got in, and then I headed for the adoption room.

I was the last one to get there, like usual, so I just went to the only empty spot left, and waited. A young couple walked in, they talked to the owner, then talked with a couple kids, not even looking at me, and ended up leaving with a cute little 3 year old girl. That is what always happens, so it doesn't bother me as much as it used to.

There are many reasons why people don't want me, I can't walk, I am not necessarily that pretty, I have medium length blonde hair and blue eyes, nothing that special, and the last reason why people don't want me is because I am already 11 years old, whereas most of the people that come to adopt, want the young kids. Not a disabled 11 year old.

The adoption day was almost over, many kids were adopted, not me, obviously, and I was hoping the last people to come would want me.

I heard the door open and close, and 6 young boys walked in. They started talking to all the kids, one by one, and when they finally got to me, I became extremely nervous because, I have never had anyone talk to me besides a couple of the workers here, and a couple of the kids. One of the boys with light brownish hair and gorgeous green eyes asked me,

"What's your name? My name is Connor"

I nervously replied, "Kallie"

"Nice to meet you, Kallie. So is it ok if I ask you some questions?" He said

"It's fine" I replied

" So, what do you like to do during your spare time?"

" So you mean all the time? Because I really don't do anything, so all the time is my spare time. Anyways, I really like photography, and I love art"

"That's great!! One more question, what are your favorite things, like color, that kind of stuff?" Connor asked

"Well, my favorite color is purple, I am like really obsessed with cats, I love pizza, even though I've only had it once, and I love to be nice to people, although a lot of people don't let me talk to them, because I can't walk."

"I think you are really nice!! Well I'm going to go talk to the owner for a little bit and make my decision." Connor said

While I waited the other boys introduced themselves,

"I'm Ricky, and that's Trevor, Sam, Kian, and Jc." Ricky said as he pointed to all the other boys.

"Nice to meet you guys" I said with a smile

After about 10 minutes Connor returned with, Mrs. Nelson, the owner of the orphanage, and said

"Hey Kallie! I'm adopting you, so show me to your room and I'll help pack your bags!!" Connor said

I was speechless. All I could get out was "thank you, thank you, thank you"

Connor pushed me to the elevator, and we got in, and when we got to the second floor I led him to my room, where he helped pack the few items I have. He got all excited when he saw I had a shirt with a cat on it. He said,

"Oh my god. This is amazing!! I love cats so much! There so fluffy and cute, and I just love them!!"

He also got excited when he saw I had a beanie. He was all like,

" Yesss!! You have a beanie! You know what great style is. Just saying"

I already knew I would love him. He had a great personality and was nice enough to adopt me.
