I wake up to the sound of soft footsteps. When living on the streets, you tune your ears very well, just to keep you safe at night. This person obviously hasn't grown up on the streets or they would be quieter, I can walk and run and my steps would be silent. It's all about survival. They start to get closer to where I am and I try to think of a way to get out of here without them seeing my face. If they see my face they could see my in the park and try to steal from me again. The footsteps are closer now and I need a way out, fast, so when I hear them get close enough I see the shadow fall over me I strike fast. Swiftly I spin my lower body, so their feet get taken out from under them, jump up, grab my bag and run as fast I can. I hear the man curse as he falls and just as quickly get back up and come after me."Wait! I need to talk to you!" I hear him call after me but I'm too far ahead and don't trust anyone but me, so I kept going. I know most of the tunnel system by heart, so evading him was easy. After 15 minutes I was safely away from there and decided to head to the streets and see the time. Once I was on the streets I see it's predawn, my favorite time of day, and head to Central Park to watch the sun rise from the top of my favorite tree. On my way to the park though, as I pass an alley, out of nowhere a hand closes over my mouth. "I told you to wait didn't I?" I'm seriously scared. why would this one guy go to such lengths to get me? I've never joined any of the gangs, never pissed anyone off, and never have I tried to mess with anyone who would want revenge. Can't I just live a nice peaceful life one the streets fighting for my life? "Come on. I need to talk to you."
