The Heiress' Guide To Success (& Romance) is a coming-of-age novel about breaking stereotypes and crossing major societal boundaries. The story follows the life of Cassidy Kingston, a privileged and wealthy seventeen year old girl from a southwestern Kentucky town who is completely oblivious to the modern world where people actually have to work for a living. Even though her father, the rich and famous George Kingston created his company, Kingston Construction from the ground up, all of his children have never been made to lift a finger. (Except for the typical household chores like doing dishes after supper, and doing their own laundry). Instead they have been expected to have proper mannerisms and the best education possible, so they can continue their life of luxury after they leave the nest.
Because of this, when Cassie is caught by her drama queen of a stepmother during a rather indecent, but completely misunderstood situation, she is practically disowned from the family with no argue from her father. Thus the story takes a cliche path and becomes somewhat (but not exactly) of a modern Cinderella story that moves to the suburban areas of Cincinnati (I live here so it seems kinda perfect lol). Cassie discovers that she inherited her mother's artistic talents which leads her to a whirlwind journey with the boy next door (another cliche but i do not care) and possibly a first love.
So yes, this novel has quite a bit of cliched themes, but that's how I feel it should be written. Also a fun fact about the story, if some of you hadn't realized. Mistress, in the terminology that I'm using, means a lady of a wealthy home. It's what a servant or worker would call their bosses. So no, for some of your perverts (I'm teasing) I'm not meaning "the other woman" kind of mistress. Hahaha. Another fun fact about, (& Romance) in the title. The story will obviously have romance in it, but the story is mostly about a wealthy girl being forced to provide for herself and bring herself to success.
