Our Story

1. Finally Summer

I rolled over and picked up my phone to turn off my alarm. The clock read 6:30 so I got up and walked to my closet. I pulled my blue uniform shirt and my khaki skirt out of the back of my closet. I went to the bathroom to get dressed and brush my teeth. My mom yelled from the kitchen, "Come on Melody, we still need to pack the car!" "I'll be there in a minute." I ran a brush through my long brown hair before putting it in a pony tail. My suitcase bumped into the wall as I dragged it down the hall. My mom opened the door for me, I took my suitcase to the car and threw it in the trunk. I went back inside and packed my lunch. We got in the car after I grabbed my backpack and we left for school.

I stepped out of the car and slung my backpack over my shoulder.  The locker room was filled with girls putting on makeup so I threw my gym bag down in a corner and walked out to join the guys playing basketball. Paige and Lilian came to play to and we played some two on two till I felt someone grab me from behind. "Hey Nic." I said shoving the arms off me trying to stop Lilian from scoring on me and Paige. "Oh come on that's all you have to say to your best friend." She pouted and put a hand on her hip. I gave her a quick hug then went back to playing. The bell rang and we all headed to homeroom.

I sat in the back next to Nic and we chatted while the teacher rambled on about some school event. Once homeroom was over I headed to my locker to grab my books. "Hey Melody." Someone said behimd me, I turned around and saw Clay. "Oh hi Clay." I started to head to my next class but he followed. I glanced at him while he walked down the crowded hallway. His light short hair set off his blue eyes perfectly. "So what finals are you taking this year?" I shook away the thoughts running through my head and answered him, "None I had straight A's all year, how about you?" "Lucky, I have to take three." He sighed skaing his head. "What's up Davidson?" Nic started walking next to me and called Clay by his last name. She knew I've had a crush on him since I was little, but she also knew everything that had happened. Even though she was new that year we clicked instantly and became total best friends and told each other everything. "Nothing much Owens." He called her by her last name also. Nic was always super sassy to him and he tried to defend himself and respond back but she was experienced and always beat him.

In english Nic asked me when I was getting picked up to go camping. I told her I was leaving right after lunch. We talked about the trip some more before Mrs. Jones told us to stop talking and actually start working on our assignment. The rest of the day went normal and finally it was lunch. I found Nic and we walked down to the building with the cafeteria in it. On the way Paige and Lynn met up with us. We all sat down at our table and started talking about how this was the last official day of school. Everyone else in our group showed up and the topic turned to jokes and stupid stories. The bell rang and we all stood up and collected our trash.

"Mom!" Nic ran past me yelling and hugged my mom. A few others stopped to say hi since i was friends with almost everyone andthey all knew my mom. I said bye to Nic and Paige and the rest of our group then I got in the car and we drove off. I looked back at the school and sighed, another school year gone and it was finally summer.
