Louis woke up to a small clump of hair on his pillow. His fist connecting with the wall beside his bed.
"What!" Louis mother wakes at the sound, shock running through her.
"Oh, Louis, sweetie." She whispers as she climbs next to him, running her hands through his hair as some comes out in her hand. "I'm so sorry.""I just don't want it to change me, I don't want to become the cancer." His whispers, hands fisted in her top.
"You aren't the cancer, you're you. The cancer is you. It's made of you. It won't change you unless you leg it, angel." she whispers, holding him. "I promise."
"I'm sorry." He whispered, looking up at the women who did everything she could for her sick, sick son.
"So am I." She replied, kissing his forehead. "I'm so, so sorry."
"It's okay." Louis whispers, an idea forming. "I need to tell Harry."
"You do, you're being so, so brave." she replied.
"But I have to do it on my own terms." Louis said. "Can you get my doctor?"
His mum ran to get his doctor. Louis bribing him with the sweet charm to let him do what he wants.
Soon his plan is set. So he goes to get the other boys and heads to Harry's room. Making sure his beanie is in place. The small bold spot on the back of his head hidden.
Louis feels giddy at the thought of a trip. Bouncing and giggling away.
Soon Harry wakes up with a raspy 'Hi.'.
"Wow! Your voice is so deep in the morning, you sure you're younger then me?" Louis asks, pouting. Feeling happy to see Harry and playing his usual childish facade.
Louis completely forgot about the knuckles he ruined punching the wall this morning.
"Louis! Your knuckles!" Harry shouts, grabbing the Louis' hand and inspecting it.
"I was running and I fell. I put my hand out to stop myself and landed on my fist." Louis said, lying.
"Okay, what are we doing today?" Harry asks, smiling kindly at Louis.
"Were going to my fave place ever." Louis said softly. "You, me and the boys."
"Are we really aloud to leave the hospital?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, get dressed and we will head out." Louis said sweetly.
As the nurses readied Harry, Louis explained to the boys what would happen. Soon they set off.
"This way." Louis said, pushing Harry along as the boys follow. Louis watching as Harry eyes the surroundings.
"How did you even get them to let you do this?" Harry asked in aw."I'll tell you when we get there." Louis said kindly, playing with Harry's curls with his free hand. Not wanting to say 'I'm dieing, they feel bad.'
"we're here!" Zayn shouted, from the front of the group. He toke everything out of the bags they had and set up a picnic.
The place was amazing. A lake surrounded by roses with a small bridge and garden on one side. The side they were on was an open piece of grass, hidden under a 'cave' of ivy.
It meant so much to Louis.
When he was first diagnosed. He ran from the hospital and ended up here. He has sat with his feet on the water and cried. Phoning his mum and saying he would be back soon. Sitting for hours, thinking, crying and just letting it sink in.
Its a safe heaven for him now. Only the boys know the location. Their safe haven.
"So I need to tell Harry something, And I wanted you all here for it." Louis starts.
"What is it?" Harry asks as he settles on the ground, having been helped out of the wheelchair.
"I-I ha-.... The black band is..." Louis starts, his voice going soft as he finally speaks. His hands shaking, sweating slightly and his throat drying up.
"I-I have..c-cancer."
