Dear World,
I'm currently listening to emotional music to get me in the mood to pour all my feelings into this message! I'll start by saying, you are loved!! You're needed in this world! At times, I never even thought that my life would ever turn out good. Heck, I tried taking it. But the more I grow up, the more I see how beautiful life is and that I never want to waste it.
I grow up in a life where everyone judges me for who I want to be or who I will be. I'm bisexual. Meaning I like girls and guys. I've only come out to a few of my friends and even some of them judge me for it (I love them, though). My family has no idea, but I intend to come out next year when I'm in high school so they don't think it's just a 'phase.' The worst part about being apart of the LGBTQ+ community is that I go to a very religious school where people are expelled for being any part of it [LGBT community]. So I live in fear that one day I'll be called to the office being confronted that I'm bi and saying goodbye to my friends. It makes me sad that people would expel students for being who they are. Along with being bisexual, I'm a total nerd!! I love comics, art (and digital art), video games, k-pop, anime, reading books, playing lacrosse, riding horses, writing stories, and talking with my internet friends that live thousands of miles away. And I love that about me. Why? Because it's who I am, and I would never change that.
I was scrolling through Instagram one day when I came across the trailer for 'Love, Simon.' I immediately thought that this was a movie on Netflix that wasn't popular, since there aren't many LGBT movies that show in theaters. I Googled the title, and it said it was arriving in theaters March 16, 2018! I began to feel super excited to see it!!! Finally! An LGBT movie that is coming to theaters! And better yet, soon! I marked the date on every calendar I own (and my phone).
This is who I am, World! I don't want to hide it. And some day, everyone will except the LGBTQ+ community as equals. So, we all can feel safe. Until then, I intend to be who I am and make sure everyone sees it! ❤️🏳️🌈
