It was a sunny day in April, cherry blossom season. There was a cherry blossom outside her apartment that was especially notable and full. There were piles upon piles of flowers scattered around it. She'd nurtured that tree for all her life, watering it when it looked dry and picking up dead flowers that had fallen from it. She loved to lay there for hours, vigilantly staring at the pagodas in the distance and enjoying the view. But that was all until yesterday. My little Aika, was lying in the flowers, when I came out with her bento box for school. That's when I saw the flagrant mess around her. That's when I saw the blood. That's when I lost my other half, when I heard the salvo of death ringing in my head.
