Her eyes scanned the crinkled invitation a thousand times over- as if she herself were looking for confirmation.Nope- the reunion was tonight, definitely tonight.
The young medic sighed, a frown forming on her features as her free hand immediately moved to cover her eyes- her palm slowly dragging down her own face. She was ashamed- she had been too consumed by work to so much as remember the occasion.
Would it be too late to cancel? Of course it was! But- what if she did? She'd be free of the anxiety that was consuming her, sure.
But Winston and the others would surely be unhappy.
As her eyes fell to the bottom of the notification- she saw the name of the venue. It was just around the corner! They had planned it locally, to ensure the doctor wouldn't have a reason to cancel. Winston knew better than anyone else that Angela was notorious for not showing up to such occasions. To her this was even more dreadful than the concept of a high school reunion.
Overwatch had been disbanded long ago- and she hadn't seen any of the other ex-agents in what felt like forever. Her mind broke from the bindings that had kept her grounded- the fear pouring through.
What if- what if Jesse still clung desperately into his addictions?
What if Torbjörn had somehow become even more disagreeable?
What if Lena kept making her terrible jokes?!
The medics hands quickly rifled their way through her hair- the urge to release an anguished scream building up within her. But then an even more horrific thought came to mind. What of Genji?
The thought of what had happened to her patient scared her much more than her thoughts of Lena, Jesse and Torbjörn combined!
She hadn't seen the other agents since Overwatch had disbanded- but she hadn't seen Genji for even longer.
And she had herself to blame...
At least a week before Overwatch had officially disbanded- she found herself launched head first into an argument with the ninja- having stumbled across her after far too many drinks- the woman spat her venom. Reyes was dead, and no matter how many drinks she consumed- it wasn't enough to make her forget that.
And Genji- well, he didn't know the extent of her pain until he had attempted to put an end to the argument. Truthfully- the details of the argument were all hazy to the drunken doctor- but when she awoke the following morning in her bed with the feather of a sparrow in her hand- she could only imagine it being a bad thing. And surely enough- it was, in few hours all of the other agents were assigned to locating where the Shimada could have went. But it were as if he had just simply...vanished.
Sighing- the Angela strode towards her dresser, her hand wrapping around the handle of the mahogany drawer to reveal that same feather from all those years ago. But she had taken the liberty of fastening it onto an elaborate fascinator, fitting nearly between a pair of dove feathers.
What if Genji was there tonight?
What would she say to him?
What was there to say?
Forcing the lump back down her throat, her attention was grabbed by the vibration of her phone against the wood of the dresser- hesitantly- she leant over to view the message without touching her phone.
