I woke up to my phone ringing, and I growled when I saw it was only 3:30 in the morning. I answered it, wishing a violent and painful death upon whoever it was.
Alice: Who, what and why?
Ricky: (pained) Alice... I'm so sorry...
Alice: I swear if you're drunk while watching Jacob I'm cutting your balls off.
Ricky: I'm... I'm not...
Alice: Then what the fuck are you on?
Ricky: Pain... I'm so sorry, I tried to stop him, I fucking swear I did. I already called the cops and told them everything.
Alice: What the fuck happened Ricky?! Is Jacob okay?!
Ricky: He's... He's gone... Someone took him...
***Two weeks later***
I sat in my bed staring at the wall as I had done every day since Ricky told me Jacob disappeared. Maybe it was stupid of me to give up so easily, but I knew it would be impossible to get him back. I knew who had him. I also knew he would never let me find Jacob.
My exboyfriend had him. It had been a bitter break-up, since he had been cheating with so many girls Lexi and I gave up trying to figure out how many. And he had threatened to take away what I love most, which was Jacob. I heard the guys talking outside my room.
"I'm the one that heard, let me tell her."
"I'm her boyfriend, it's my job."
"It's my fault Jacob went missing, I should get to."
"Rock paper scissors it, you three."
"And be fucking quiet about it in case she's sleeping."
"She's barely slept at all, I'm not that worried."
When I heard Ricky say Jacob's name, I felt a warm tear slip down my cheek. No one had said his name when I could hear it since he was taken. After a moment, there was a knock at my door, and then it opened.
"Are you awake?" Chris asked, sticking his head in. I wiped the tear from my face as he walked in and sat on the foot of my bed, and the rest of them filed in. "There's good news. TJ?"
TJ sat next to me on my bed. "Alice, a friend of mine saw Jacob in a car about an hour ago, in the next town over. She got the plate and gave it to the police, they're tracking it now."
I shook my head and looked away. In my peripheral I could see them mouthing a conversation, and finally Balz said, "Alice? Aren't you excited?" I sighed. "If he even thinks anyone saw, he's ditched the car." I told him.
Chris moved up to my other side and hugged me. "You don't know that. We'll get him back, I promise you." I pretended to agree, but I had no belief or faith in the situation. My phone rang, an Unknown number, and I answered it.
Alice: Hello?
O. L.: Hello, is this Alice Cassnop?
Alice: Yes, who is this?
O.L.: This is Officer Luintsky, your brother has been found, and he is in our precinct. We have an officer with him, you can come down and take him home now.
Alice: Thank you. Thank you so much.
"What was that?" Chris asked. I looked at them smiling, tears in my eyes. "They got him. They found Jacob." The guys all hugged me tightly, and I broke free from their grasp, desperate to get to the cop shop.
We piled into mine and Ryan's car, then sped off to get Jacob. I realized on the way there I was still wearing my A Day to Remember hoodie and a pair of sweatpants, and no shoes. I didn't care, either; I just wanted Jacob back.
As soon as we arrived, I raced inside and asked around to get to Jacob. An officer took us upstairs and I immediately saw Jacob, who ran to me, crying. I picked him up and hugged him like it had been years, crying with him.
