Hi guys! There's another chapter! ^^
Chapter 14 – When does Anger turn into Love?
<Charles’s point of view>
I consider Ewan as a brother.
We met a few years after my “birth” as a vampire. It was a rough time for both of us, since we did not choose this kind of life – or do I wish for anyone. The first years after we are “born” are the most difficult since the thirst for blood is always there and it is almost impossible to control it. Ewan, on the other hand, was special.
Most of vampires lose their human side when are turned and for the first years after the “birth” they are considered monsters since we do not have feelings or regret, only anger and thirst. Ewan is different. The way he controls his thirst is special. Although he feels it, with just his sadness and regret for not being able to fight the vampire who turned him, allowed him to always control his desires for blood, and this makes him a very special vampire.
For me, the first years were very difficult, and now I feel the regret I should have felt back then. The humans – no, the people I have killed will always haunt me and there is no eternity that can erase that.
We spent many centuries together until we found Oscar. He said he could help us and he did. He showed us a different path and in the Council we found a family. We all have our stories and sorrows but we also have eternity and we learnt how to appreciate what we have now.
Oscar taught us many things about our new world – that, according to him, should have been the role of our makers – like new ways to avoid the thirst, the sircanians and arcanians, the rules of the vampires, the bonds between makers and newborns and the existence of our mates and their importance to the continuity of our “species” and how they will bring a new future to the co-existence with vampires and humans.
I have never had the chance of meeting my mate and most vampires never do. Meeting our mate is a magical moment that gives a vampire eternal happiness – something that most of us have already forgotten. Since there are more humans than vampires, finding a mate is almost like finding a needle in a haystack…
I have already given up in finding her and I prefer picking up women from the street. It’s easy and fast and I might even drink from them if they want allow me to.
And now I hear that Ewan has found his mate and now I’m outside his flat waiting for them – yes, them, because his mate’s sister is coming as well. “Does his mate think that his house is a boarding house?” Although I’m kind of pissed because he found his mate I’m also happy for him and I want to see the human girl who he is fated to me with.
“I knew you would come” I looked to my right and saw Ewan next to me. I grinned “Yeah, well, I wasn’t going to let you walk there”
“Where is the car?” He asked.
“Right around the corner. Where’s the little princess and her maid?” I asked while I helped him with some luggage. “Why does she need so many luggages anyway?”
“First of all I’m not her maid, I’m her sister, and second you are a very lame vampire for not even noticing we were behind you the whole time”
I froze. I could not believe what was happening to me. I didn’t even had to look at back to see her image in my head, nevertheless I wanted to see her. I turned and looked straight back at her.
Dark wavy hair. Green doll eyes. Plump red lips. Pink cheeks. The sexiest body I had ever seen. Her mature curves made my hands sweat. Her scent…strangely, reminded me of Christmas and snow. She was my mate and the way she was looking at me, I knew she was feeling the same. I could hear her heartbeat getting faster, her strong heavy breaths and the warmth of her body. I could feel everything.
