Introduction

In their sixth year at Hogwarts, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin and Luke Hemmings, all being from different houses, had never been acquainted with each other. Well, other than having a slight remembrance of a mention of one of the other boys' names, they were nearly strangers.

Calum Hood, being prized keeper of the Gryffindor quidditch team, always had people around him. He was known within his house and among the other house quidditch teams, people like Michael, Ashton, and Luke, who didn't care enough about athletics to attend any games, wouldn't have known him. Although, when he got attention, he didn't always want it. Calum did like to keep within his small group of friends, Logan Holand, Bryony Bishop, and Ailsa Peters, all in Gryffindor house. One of the members of the group, Ailsa, was Calum's on/off girlfriend. Though they'd been having this linear affair since the middle of fourth year, they hadn't ever thought about ending it for good.
Calum was a pure-blood wizard, though he didn't know his father and lived with his mother in Bristol when he wasn't at Hogwarts.

Michael Clifford, pure-blood wizard and Slytherin outcast had always kept to himself, originally from London and lived with his parents and little sister, Tilly, who would be a fourth year, while not at Hogwarts. Although, he sat in the back of every one of his classes, Michael was rather knowledgeable. He was an outcast but he was good at winning the friendships of others with his rude sense of humor and his strangely great wizard's chess skills. He was also very persuasive and clever. He had a knack for playing pranks with (and occasionally on) his best friends, Duncan Hasting and Evie Thompson, both in Slytherin house because he wouldn't ever talk to anyone outside of his house. Michael had always liked and been interested in Evie, which is also why he strived for her friendship in third year, but he just didn't care put in the effort or liked her enough to try to be more than friends with her.

Ashton Irwin, always striving to do his best in classes and exams, was an easy pick for a Hufflepuff prefect in his fifth year. Though he was honored and took the position without question, he didn't like to get people in trouble or upset them by doing so. He lived with his family in Bath when not attending Hogwarts.
Ashton was a half-blood, his father being a muggle and mother a witch. He had an older sister, Libby, who had been through Hogwarts and was studying to become a dragonologist, and a little brother, Lewis, who would be a fourth year. Ashton, very kind and welcoming, had several friends, some in Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, but his best friend, Trevor Fitz was a Hufflepuff as well.

Luke Hemmings, or Lucas Hemmings was bound to achieve an Outstanding on any exam he took. He kept to himself very often, but did have a friend, Ellington Mattes. Ellington was always at the top of his classes and was chosen to be a Ravenclaw prefect in his fifth year. Which that could have easily been Luke, his grades being as good as Ellington's, if he had just spoken up in classes or made an effort to be less introverted.
Luke was muggle-born, or mudblood, and was an only child. He lived with his parents in London while not at Hogwarts, but always felt distant from him. He felt as if his parents didn't accept them as their child, though they still loved and cared for him, since he was a magical being and they were muggles. Luke made friends with Ellington when he was required to write an essay with him over transfiguration in second year, but since then he hadn't tried to make friends with anyone else, especially students from other houses.

Each very different and unlikely to one another, but there isn't a way to stop them from getting acquainted when they find themselves in the same Thursday six a.m. Arithmancy class.
