"Violet...Violet...Violet!"
My eyes are shot open when I hear a woman yelling. I look over at a door and I see a woman standing, looking impatient. "I thought you set an alarm for 6! School starts in 20 minutes, get up!" She yells, then closes the door. I rush to find a pair of clothes to wear. "Seriously I can't find anything around here." I said silently.
I eventually find some pants and a tee shirt to wear. I had no idea what to expect. I didn't know what grade I was in, who my friends are. The last time I checked I was Opal Forest Rutledge, 14, I go to Westside High School. But I guess now, things are different.
"Okay." I told the woman "I'm ready."
"Well then go to school you're already almost late."
"Can't you drive me?"
"You have a licence, you can drive yourself."
"Right. I just like spending time with you."
"You're just saying that to make me drive you. I love hanging out with you too, but I'm pregnant and tired."
I walk down the steps outside and I don't know which car to go to. I finally realized that none of this was a dream. It had to be real. Dreams don't last this long. And I've even pinched myself earlier and see if that myth worked. But I was still awake.
After trying 2 cars, I find a silver one, which key matches up with it and I try to start the car. "Come on, Opal, you've seen mom do this a thousand times. By now you should've picked up something!" I tell myself.
"But you're not Opal anymore..." I hear. I look behind me, and no one is there. So I finally start the car, then the car starts to move and I panic and slam on the brakes.
"The trick is to keep your foot hovered-"
"Whoever that is I swear to God, leave me alone I'm being put under enough stress as it is!" I tell
"I'm the voice inside your head. No one else can hear me and there's limited time to which I can stay in your head."
"Can you help me to get this car moving?" I ask
"You want to barely press on the gas pedal and you can pretty much figure it out from there."
I do what the voice said and it went smoothly from there.
"Thanks. Who are you by the way?" I ask the voice.
"Call me Amaria." It says "Though, that's not my real name."
"Well what is it?"
"...Violet."
"Are you...the girl people have been calling me?"
"It's confusing. When I died my spirit left my body, but my body wasn't ready to die yet, so I guess your spirit came to my body because it's not time for you to die yet."
"You weren't kidding when you said it was confusing. So has this happened to multiple people."
"Well I- WATCH OUT!"
There was a car coming towards me and I had to swerve around it. Then I started to understand everything...

It was only a few hours ago. I was in the car with my sister Willow. Everything seemed normal. Birds chirping, the sky was clear. Then in a split second, everything changed. I remember her texting our mom "We'll be home in a few minutes." At that moment, I looked up and saw a semi truck rushing forward. I had never been so afraid. It was like coming home to it being on fire. In fear and as loud as I can, I yell "WILLOW!"
She looked up, but not in time. The last thing I remember hearing is "I'm sorry Opal. I never meant for this to happen"

"That was a close one." Said the voice in my head. "So anyway, do you remember how you died, or when?"
"Huh?Oh, uh... no, no I don't."
"Weird" she said
I had to get out of this conversation. Its bad enough lying to myself, but to someone else,....
"So uh which school does Violet go to?"
"Westside High School, right down a few roads."
"Perfect. I actually went there before...well you know."
"I get it."
"There's so many things I don't know."
"Well, what do you want to know."
"God, where do I begin? What grade are you in? What's your favorite color? Do you make good grades. What are your talents? What's your zodiac sign? How-"
"SLOW DOWN!" she yelled "We can talk about all of this later. Some of these things you have to figure out on your own."
"On my own. Great. Yeah I'm kind of a 'Tell me the info and go' kind of person."
"It'll be fine. I'm just as new at this as you are."
"Well how do you know all of this?"
"I'm a spirit, Violet, I know things. And you need to get used to getting called Violet. You won't hear the name Opal very often."
"What about my family?"
There was a silence
"There! There's the school."
Turning into the school, I ask "What grade are you in exactly?"
"You're a junior."
I get out of the car and enter through the front door. Right when I enter, the bell rings.
"Any reason why you're late miss?" Some lady asks
"No reason. I'm just irresponsible." I reply
"Go to class before I take you to the office."
I walk to class but I then realized "Um...what class am I going to?" I think to myself.
"Spanish, room 202" I hear
"Wait, we can communicate through my mind?"
"You've got a lot to learn."
Walking through the hallway, I see so many familiar faces who's names I never knew until now. Kaitlin...McKenna...Devin...
So many faces I never knew, but now I do. I went to the classroom. I didn't understand anything because it was Spanish. Finally the bell rang, but as I was walking out of the classroom the teacher stopped me.
She said, "I know what you are."
My face went pale and my eyes went wide. Did she mean, she knows I'm---technically dead?
