We sat in an empty bench outside the cafeteria, since Britney is my only friend here I wanted to know more about her.
"Brit, If you don't mind can I ask you a question?", I asked her.
"Shoot", she said while munching her french fries.
"Were you all alone by yourself before I was here in school?", I asked since I haven't seen her talking to anyone in the school.
"You are right, I was all alone", she said sadly and she continued "I was always considered a weirdo. I still am. Students made fun of me, called me different names, starred at me differently. At first it was difficult but after a while I accepted the fact that I am different. I am different from others I didn't care what they said to me because I liked the fact that I am different. Unlike others. Maybe that's why they just are jealous of me", she added the last part sarcastically and winked at me while I laughed.
"If you don't wanna hangout with me, it's okay I know that you've talked to Noah and those popular girls are ogling at you from inside", she said pointing at the cafeteria window.
"I would've been with them but they are not Britney Smith, they are not different, they are the same bunch of people and people who are idolized by students", we all have different opinions I don't hate or dislike them but I don't like being in a gang or squad it's just so mainstream and I just ignored about Noah's topic since I didn't wanna talk about it.
"Thank you for being with me and I have noticed that you're not like the others you are different, so that makes us friends?", she asked.
"Best friends", I corrected and assured her.
"Best friends", she confirmed.
Lunch time was almost over when a boy who was in one my class approached us.
"Hey you're Anika Verma, right?", he asked.
"Yeah! That's me", I answered confusingly.
"Cool! I am Ethan Evans. Lead Choreography of Liberty High's dance Team", he introduced himself showing his charming smile.
"Hi! Nice to meet you", I smiled back.
"Principal Andrews is oddly excited to see you so she asked the whole team to meet her in her office", he informed.
"She wants to meet us right now?", I asked because I had my history class which I can't bunk for sure since it's my first day.
"Yep, rest of the team members have already left so you coming?"
"Umm. Okay. Let's go", I said and turned to Brit who was listening our conversation curiously.
"Brit I'll meet you after the school ends maybe", I said while she gives me 'You have to tell me what's going on' look and nodding.
"Yeah! Sure", she said and smiled still giving me that 'What is going on' look.
"Give me your phone", I said and she handed me her phone, I typed my number and saved it.
"This is my number, call me once you're last class get over okay?", I handed her phone back as I stood up to leave.
"Yeah! Ok! Now Go! Shoo", she shooed me while I laughed and left with Ethan.
"So why is Principal Andrews eagerly waiting for you?", he asked while walking towards the main cafeteria as I got some stares, this is the reason why I preferred sitting outside.
"Principal Andrews is very good friends with the Vice Principal of the previous school I attended and when I informed her that I am leaving school and moving here in Brooklyn, she called Principal Andrews instantly, recommended my name and here I am", I said as we exited the cafeteria.
