Like a color changing reptile ,the leaves are changing colors dramatically, not long to fall off. Not far from the closing point of November, maybe 11 days away, today is like any other day. I,Katelin,an African American 6th grader girl,is working on a class assignment as I am starring out the window of my classroom. I am so focused on my work that the paper and my pencil are like the only things in the world right now. I am so concentrated that I nearly jump off of my stool when the school bell rings. When the school bell rings, that is when all the comotion starts.
"Keep it down class! When the bell rings, that is not your signal to talk! And I dismiss you,not the bell,"our first block teacher went around the classroom making her announcement! The class then started to line up in front of the classroom to exit the room."Remember, you have questions one through three on page 345 for homework tonight,"our math teacher announces .
We then exit the classroom to go to second block. The hall is full of students transitioning. Because of this,it makes it a little uneasy to move through the crowd,so I walk slowly. My friend Lukas then appears from out of the crowd."Hey,Katelin. Have you heard about the yearbook pictures that are being taken," asks Lukas?"No,"I say plainly. At that moment, the most disturbingest  picture is standing out in the middle of the hallway on the wall. There is a big picture as tall as the office door with Lukas's face on it. His face was smeared with what looked like Cheetos and chocolate with wet toilet tissues in his hair and ears. Straws were suck on both of his canine teeth like he was a vampire, and yellow, red, purple, blue, green, and white paint was splatered all over his shirt, paints, and face.
"Isn't it a masterpiece,"Lukas asks proudly?" Uummmm,it's.......something,"I try finding the right words to say. Just then,Jabari tramples into our conversation with his math book in his hands ready for combat." Where is Josh? I need to kill him right now! Right now! I need him dead,"Jabri yells, and takes off down the hallway looking for Josh." Whatever that was about,I don't want to know,"I say and walk with Lukas.
"So,you still haven't told me what you wanted to talk about. So,what's up,"I ask? There is nothing but silence and an awkward look on Lukas's face as he lays his eyes on the ground as we walk. I look at him with a concerned look on my face, and I tilt my head sideways trying to figure out what is wrong with Lukas."Yo!Are you listening? What's up,"I ask and wave my hand in his face?"Oh um.........."RRIIIIIIINNNGGG!The bell rings before Lukas could finish what he was saying."Well, that's the bell! We better get to class,"Lukas quickly says  as he rushes off to second block!
I tilt my head sideways suspiciously. "Hmmm, something's not right. Whatever it is,I'll figure it out later. I have to get to class."I then rush to second block as well.
