while she can be a gigantic bitch at times , cheryl wants the best for herself and for her friends— the little friends that she does have . cheryl likes to invite herself into a lot of things when she isn't needed because she is never invited by anyone else . she lost her brother , jason , and her father , clifford , at sixteen , and afterward she is convinced that she should commit suicide by drowning herself in the frozen sweetwater river . her mother is a prostitute and a homophobe— which we find out when she reveals to toni that she's bisexual .cheryl is desperate to get herself attention , since she is never given any at home or by her friends . to shorten it up , cheryl just needs some love .
