It was 5am on a Saturday morning. No one was awake except Skylar. She peered out of her window to see the sunrise as she realised she was the only person awake. Father won't be awake until the sun is up and no one wakes up until father does, Skylar thought to herself, if I go out and watch the sunrise no one will know because I will be back before anyone awakens. By this time she was already out of bed and had her shoes on. She sneaked outside as quiet as possible so that she did not wake anyone and sat on the fence around her front garden. It's like a fairytale. My life, I'm stuck in my house almost all the time and I'm just waiting for my Prince Charming to take me away and then we can... Skylar's thoughts were interrupted by what sounded like a horse and carriage crashing.
"Oh Nik! I almost got blood on my dress! Try to be careful when choosing your meals next time!" A voice came from the same direction as the crash. Skylar walked towards it quietly so she was not heard or seen. "Oh Rebekah your not a princess! Now do you want any or not because I'm starving!" Oh.. my.. goodness! What Skylar saw was enough to scar a person for all eternity. They're.. they're eating.. Her thoughts were interrupted again but this time by a man. He was standing next to her and he put his hand around her mouth to make sure she didn't make a noise and took her away. "Be quiet love," the man whispered, "Niklaus will kill you if he sees you..." he kept speaking but Skylar wasn't listening. She was too distracted...
He is gorgeous! His voice sounds heavenly. His eyes sparkle like gems and I could just get lost in them. Is this my knight in shining armour, come to rescue me from my father and the horrible murderers... murderers, Oh no, he saw them too. What if he is one! I should never have left the house!
"Hello? Are you listening? Are you going to stay quiet if I take my hand away from your mouth?" The man whispered to Skylar in his heavenly voice. Skylar nodded and he took his hand away. "Please don't hurt me" Skylar's voice broke as she was close to tears in the thought that she could be killed on the spot and no one would know. "Darling, I'm not going to hurt you. I took you to protect you. If Niklaus or Rebekah had seen you before I did, you would have been dead in seconds!" The man seemed like he was genuinely trying to help but, why? Why would a stranger help her?
"Where the bloody hell has Kol gone?" A girls voice came from the crash. Skylar assumed the girls voice that she kept hearing must have been Rebekah and Kol must be the man that was standing with her. "I've got to go. Maybe I'll see you later?" The man looked at Skylar, it almost looked as if he wanted her to say that he would see her later, she just stared blankly at him in hope he would say nothing else and leave so that she could go home, "maybe not then." He said and ran off faster than anyone she has ever seen run... ever! It was almost abnormal how fast he ran but Skylar was not focusing on that; she was focusing on the fact that the sun was now up and her father would be waking up soon, so, she had to get home before he did. She crawled back to the house in hope that no one would see her and she ran as fast and quietly as she could to her bedroom and climbed into bed as if she had never left.
About half an hour later, Lillian came into Skylar's room and whispered, "Skylar, honey, your Father wants to tell everyone something and so wants everyone at the table for breakfast in ten minutes. I'll see you there darling." Darling. God Skylar was scared of that word since Kol had said it to her. As worried as she was, Skylar got up, got dressed and went to breakfast as instructed. As she got to the table, she saw Giuseppe sat at the head of the table (as always), Lillian sat to his left and Damon to his right, next to Damon there was a spare seat and then Stefan. Both the brothers beckoned for Skylar to sit on the empty seat in between them, but, as she walked towards it, Giuseppe stated, "Skylar, sit beside your mother and Stefan can move to close the gap between himself and Damon." Everyone was afraid to argue back to him so they obeyed what he said and stayed silent.
"I have some exciting news! It won't bother the boys too much as they are busy a lot of the time working or going to school, but, it may affect my beautiful girls. We are having a family come stay with us. The Mikaelsons. There is five of them: Klaus, Rebekah, Fin, Elijah and Kol. I expect everyone to treat them with respec. If I am told you have disrespected any of them, well, we all know that what happens to you will not be pleasant." As Giuseppe finished, there was a knock on the door. As Lillian went to answer it, Skylar noticed how familiar the names where and when she heard the voice from the door she realised why... it's the people from the crash!
The family of five walked into the dining room one after another and stood next to each other looking each one of the Salvatore's over. "Welcome. We hope you make yourselves at home and if you need anything, just shout for Lillian or Skylar. However," Giuseppe went into a whisper for the last sentence, "you must know, I do not let my daughter out of the house unless she is with me, Lillian or one of my boys so if you see her trying to sneak out, don't be afraid to discipline her." Kol looked at her and smiled faintly, but, Skylar just put her head down. Damon and Stefan stood up as it was now 6 o'clock which meant they had to get ready for school, but, as much as she wanted one, Skylar had no reason to leave and so had to stay at the table until she was told she could leave. "Skylar please show our guests to the spare rooms and let them pick any of them that they wish." Giuseppe stared at Skylar with a look that gave her a chill.
"Yes, father." Skylar replied as she stood up and beckoned for the five people to follow her. It was deadly silent as they walked up the stairs to the guest bedrooms and Skylar was pretty happy about that because she was not prepared to take to those people. When they reached one of the rooms, Skylar noticed she had left out her canvas's and paints. This meant she would have to break the silence.
"I am terribly sorry about this. I forgot to tidy my paints away yesterday, but, I will have this all cleaned out before anyone needs the room." That wasn't so bad. She thought, just don't think about this morning and everything will be fine.
"There's no need to clear any of this away," one of the four boys said whilst admiring the paintings, "I love painting so, if you don't mind, I would love to take inspiration from your painting because I can tell you are a great artist." Skylar blushed a little and told the man that he could have the room if he wished and he could take any paintings or change them as he desired. As the tour carried on, everyone chose a room except Kol. They reached the last room and Skylar stated, "this will be your room Mr. Mikaelson. If there is anything you need, I will be in my room. Just down the hall." She took a deep breath and turned around, pleased that she hadn't freaked out. "Actually, there is one thing I need right now," Kol surprised Skylar and she jumped as she turned to ask what that thing was. "About This morning, I just want to apologise and ask that you do not tell anyone what you saw. In time I will explain what me and my family are but for now I think everything should remain a secret. Don't you?" Skylar nodded and quickly walked to her room.
What me and my family are?! What does he mean what? Are they some kind of creatures from hell or something? I saw them.. murder someone! What Skylar had saw was far from normal. She saw the boy named Klaus and the girl, Rebekah, sucking blood out of some mans neck! Are they vampires? Thoughts swirled madly around this poor girls head as she had no idea what to think. But, then again, who would know what to think?
