Chapter 2: Broken Heart

she cackled at my pain.

"it's a shame to see a white dress.. dirty and ripped.. and old.. and soiled.." she teases.

"a white dress is supposed to be so pure..."

she turns and stares at Stayne's corpse.. lying in the vine chair.

and approaches him slowly.

"It is a pity..."

"that he had to die..."

"it's such a misfortune that you could not be with him.."

she touches his cheekbone and caresses his jaw.. she tilts her head to his.. and she mocks me while looking me in the eye.

I inhale and my breath gets heavy.

the tears start pouring from my eyes.

I grasp the cage bars, "why torture me?!.. why not just kill me?!.." I shout.

she retracts her hands from him and steps toward me, she stops a distance away.

"because I want you to suffer until your last breath..." she curses.

(It was silent, all but my loud breathing..)

I gape widely at her.

"I'll be waiting for the day then... when the air in my lungs give out... I will rejoice.."

"I will find him... you cannot separate us in spirit.." I promise.

"if you try. your efforts will be futile... you are the one who has truly lost.."

"You will be waiting a very long time..." Her voice deepens.

"I will see to it..." she adds.

"So may it be..." I mutter sincerely and sorrowfully pressing my cheek onto the cage, staring at her.

(Things fade.. and transition into another's POV)

Alice has made much of herself since returning from wonderland.

she became a ship captain.. and has sailed all over the world.

she knows China very well.

and was just now returning to London.

well.. actually.. she will be there tomorrow.

so she thought.

the ocean was raging in a mighty nightly storm.

she was doing her best to handle it.

the ship knocked and swayed.. the winds howled.. and the rain poured.

"is everyone alright!?.." she rushes to the deck.

she sees one of her crewmates take a tumble towards the bow.

she gasps, and shouts his name then runs after him.

she was able to get hold of him.

"I'm alright Ms. Kingsleigh!.." he shouts.

"are you?!.." she asks.

the ship was pushed again.

and she flies back, through her open cabin door.

a tall mirror rested against the wall.

and she went right through.

she screamed.

when she realized she was somewhere else.

she went silent.

she slowly fell down into a room full of clocks.. of all designs and shapes.

then suddenly her fall sped up.. and she was now free-falling in the sky.

she fell into a garden of pink flowers.

and passed out.

time skip>

a few minutes later.. she woke to something tickling her nose.

it was a cat's tail.

"I beg your pardon.." she retorts.

Cheshire floats up and turns around, "Alice.. when did you get back my love?.." he smiles.

"Cheshire!.." she exclaimed in surprise.

"Don't be ridiculous.. you knew I was here the whole time.." she adds.

he giggles, "your to good Alice. I was just waiting for you to wake up.."

"That is all..."

"Why am I back?.. is something wrong?.." she questions.

he was silent a moment.

"sort of..." he dangles upside down holding his feet.

"it's Ayla... One of the Red Queen's Knavehearts.." he says.

"what of her?.."

"she was banished to the outland's.." she stated.

"well.. yes.. but things have changed Alice.. she needs your help.." he assures.

"she and that Stayne man... They are evil.. why should I help her?.." Alice scorns.

"were... evil... Alice.."

"The White Queen remembered them from years ago... she realized she made a mistake to banish them.."

"they used to serve her parents, they were apart of the royal army.."

"she understands now that they did not join Iracebeth because they were evil.. but gave themselves up to protect the village and their families.."

"The Red Queen has since killed ilosovic Stayne.. and has imprisoned Ayla.. she is dying from a broken heart.."

"They loved each other..." he explains.

"she hopes that you can bring him back..." he adds.

Alice was quiet.

"I must know more. I must hear this from the White Queen herself.." Alice demanded.

"Follow me... I will take you to her.." Cheshire dissipated and reappeared in the distance.

He looks back at her.

Alice stares, then gets up and brushes herself off.. and runs to catch up with him.
