I looked outside the window, wondering in deep thought. Continuously, I tapped my pencil against my sketchbook, waiting for some kind of inspiration to spring out. I thought and thought. I looked outside for something to draw. I stared at my dump of a room, searching for ideas.
Absolutely Nothing.
I'm usually the sort of person who can hold a pencil in my hand and start sketching away. But today, I seemed to have lost my will to do the only thing I was actually good at - art.
It seemed as if something was bothering me at the back of my head - but I could just not figure it out. Today, it was like my brain had been all knotted up into a mess. Nothing seemed to make sense to me anymore.
Eventually I gave up and jumped off my windowsill from my uncomfortable slouching position. Lost, I searched through a rabble of clothes on the floor and picked up my lilac hoodie and soft pastel coloured shirt to go underneath. Gently, I slipped on my parrot blue chinos, trying not to tear them apart.
Ring, ring. Ring, ring. Ring ....
My iPhone rang, vibrating vigorously. Unattaching it from my charger next to my bedside table, I picked it up. Strangely, it was from an unknown number.
Hmm.
'Hello..?'
'Hey Danielle,' replied a familiar voice.
'Erm.. Who is this?'
'Who do you think, stupid?' They laughed.
'Seriously, tell me who the hell you are,' I stammered, shaking nervously.
'I'm going to find you. Mwhahaha....,' beckoned the stranger.
I was really scared now.
'Tell me otherwise I will report you to the poli -'
'Gosh, calm down Dani. Ahahaha - it's only me, Callum.'
'Ffs Callum, you nearly gave me a heart attack!'
A gave a sigh of relief.
'How come the number came up as Unknown?'
'I got a new number and a new phone. I was just phoning all my contacts to let them know,' Callum replied innocently.
I wanted to punch that little twat.
'Gee thanks Callum. Thank you for scaring me half to death! You pig,' I screamed at him, half laughing.
'Sorry, it's just seemed fun at the time - your voice though. It was like you were about to cry!'
'Dani - get down here for breakfast. It's getting cold!' bellowed my dad from downstairs.
'Shut up! I did not! Look - we will talk about this later at school. I have to go and grab my breakfast before dad scoffs it up. I'll talk to you later, ok?' I said, racing through my words.
'Sure thing, Danielle. I'll talk to you soon. Meet you by the gate?'
'Sure. Bye.' I smiled.
I put down the phone and looked at the time.
8:49AM.
Shit - I only had 11 minutes until school started.
Stumbling down the stairs, I raced down to the kitchen. It echoed from my my older brother's 'music' that I call junk. He's 19, and is recently obsessed with some kind of gothic, girl band. Weirdo.
Silently, I stepped into the kitchen, checking my news feed on Instagram...
