Hunter

As I opened the door and walked in, I could only smell the scent of chocolate.

The moment the smell hit my nostrils, my stomach started to growl. I then clutched it in embarrassment.

I didn't know I was hungry for chocolate.

"Damn...." I said as I closed the door behind me, "Is she baking or what? This late?"

The smell came from the kitchen, obviously. So I headed there wondering what was going on.

As I walked in the kitchen, I saw a young woman crouching down and pulling out a tray from the oven. She didn't notice my arrival as she straightened up and placed the tray on the counter next to the stove. I saw that they were brownies.

".....Brownies..." I said

She then jumped hearing my voice, her black hair jumping with her, and looked at me with her blue eyes with surprise.

"H-Hunter!!" She exclaimed, "You're back!"

I gave her a smile as she patted her hands on her apron and immediately jumped at me.

I caught her in a hug and chuckled.

"Hey lil sis, miss me?" I said

She hugged me tightly.

"Of course I did, you idiot." She said sniffing, "I never know if you're gonna come back or not...."

I patted her head, "I'll always come back, Rosie." I told her, "I'll always come back to you."

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes.

Rose, she's my younger sister. She stays here in our house whenever I go outside the walls.

Considering that I am her only brother left, you could say that she worries a lot about me.

Rosie is the last of my family, and I wouldn't ever think of loosing her. She's everything to me, I love her so much.

Rose hugged me tightly, not wanting to let go.

I smiled and stroked her hair, then I looked at the brownies.

"So, what's the tray of brownies for?" I asked

She then looked up at me, "Well, I was gonna sell them throughout the neighborhood tomorrow."

I frowned, "Alone? In the streets?"

She nodded

"No." I said, "I'll go with you."

She then let go and pulled back.

"Hunter....You don't have to. You are a busy man.." she said

I crossed my arms and shook my head.

"I don't care." I said, "Who knows what kind of shit can happen in this neighborhood. I won't let you do it alone."

"No, I'm okay." She said

I frowned, "Take the .22 then."

She looked at me like I kicked a puppy or something.

"Hunter! You want me to take a firearm to the neighborhood?! Are you crazy?!" She exclaimed

"No. I'm actually serious." She said

She sighed, "Come on, Hunter. What can possibly happen to me?" She shook her head, "You overthink too much. What if Sherif Lewis finds out?"

I shrugged, "Meh, what is he gonna do?"

She wanted to say something but decided not to.

"So, you're gonna head to the meeting?" She asked, "It's in an hour or so."

I shook my head, "Might ditch that, actually." I said

She widened her eyes, "You're a council member, Hunter! You can't pass up on a meeting! Not unless you're outside the wall, which you're not." She said, "What excuse will you tell The Mayor?"

"I do what I want." I said looking past her

I spotted a plate of brownies that were cut. These were probably made before the batch she just took out.

Rosie saw what I was looking at. She also noticed that I was drooling a little bit.

"Oh no, mister." She said, "No meeting, No brownies."

I looked at her, "Eh?"

She gave me a scowl, "You heard me."

I felt my stomach growl. I looked at her again with horror.

She raised her eyebrow and smirked slightly.

I knew she wasn't gonna budge. I wanted brownies and if I didn't go to the stupid meeting, I wasn't getting any, no matter how hard I try to convince her to give me any.

I frowned,

"Fine."
