The Duggars and Alex Black

Meeting Alex Black and starting a courtship

Jedidiah's P.O.V.

I walk over to the church and see a very attractive girl standing there with her family. We got a new pastor today, William Black. Our old pastor retired. My mom and dad walk over to the girl and her family. He must be the new pastor because everyone is walking up to him and shaking his hand. She looks really bored just standing there. The girl has blue eyes and red hair, she also has no make up on and pants. My parents would not approve of me being attracted to her, she has on pants. In our church, pants are unheard of on women. Jinger was banished from our family after my parents found out that she actually was using birth control and wore 'ungodly' cloths for a women. I find that girls in pants are more annoying, but this girl, I think I'm in love already. I walk up to her and see that she has her nose pierced. Jill was banished from our family when my parents found out she got her nose pierced. I see the girl is staring at me and looking me up and down. She looks about 16, too young for a courtship. I would never go after someone who is not of courtship age

"Hello" she says as she walks up to me. A girl should never approach a man in the rules of our religion and beliefs. She is about 5 foot 4 inches. Way shorter then me at 6 foot 4 inches

"Hi" I say

"You're Jedidiah right" she asks

"Yes" I say. She has a low cut top on that makes me want to .... no Jedidiah, don't think of things like that before marriage. I should be pure to the lord and never think about anyone besides my spouse that way

"I'm Alex, Alex Black" she says. She is the pastor's daughter. I wonder why he would let her dress like that.?

"Hello there. Is your father around" I say because I know I want to start a courtship with this girl right away. I should ask her father first. I should have his permission before asking Alex anything, but I really want to be able to call her mine. She is perfect for me in every way

"Yes" she says and point to the new pastor. He looks like he has a free moment

"Sir" I say walking up to him and who I assume is his wife

"Yes" he says turning around

"Are you Alex Black's father" I ask

"Why yes I am, what can I do for you" he says

"I know you are new here, but I see your daughter and have fallen in love with her. She is beautiful and I want to court her, do I have your permission?" ask and he looks back at his wife

"What is your name" he asks

"Jedidiah Duggar" I say nervous. I hope he says yes to it. I would want to cry if he did not say yes

"You come from a good family, I do have to warn you though, my daughter is in a rebel stage and does not believe in god at the moment, I hope you might be able to change that, yes, you have my permission to court my daughter, just don't let her drag you into her sinful stage" he says and he shakes my hand. I thank him and walk off to find Alex. I see her over by Jana and Jana looks like she is about to punch Alex

"Hey" I say as I walk up to them

"Jedidiah, don't you think she should be wearing a skirt" Jana says. I remember what her father said about the stage she is going through

"She is allowed to do what she wants, it is her body, they are not immodest and they are not short, I think she looks beautiful" I answer. For some reason, I want to tell Jana off for not letting Alex be herself. I think Alex could actually teach me a few things about the world outside of god

"What about her top, she should be covering up and not leading men into temptation" Jana says and now I AM going to tell Jana off, but also make my courtship proposal to Alex

"Jana, she is a beautiful young women, she can dress how she wants, Amy dresses the same way and no one says anything to her. Is it because she is family? I think Alex is a beautiful person and I would be honored if she would start a courtship with me" I say turning towards Alex

"What" she asks and I look at her

"Alex, the second I saw you, I feel in love with you, will you court me?" I ask

"I'm telling mom and dad" Jana says

"Go right on ahead" I say not even looking over my shoulder at her

"Really" Alex asks

"Really" I answer

"Yes" she says and she gives me a full hug. I can tell this will end badly

"Jedidiah" I hear my dad say from behind me and we pull away from the hug. My dad has always tried to instill good godly values in us, but some of the things are annoying

"What" I say as I turn around to face my dad

"What are you doing" he asks looking at me like I just killed someone

"I am courting Alex, we are allowed to set our own courtship rules, so I don't know why you're over here" I say. This is the first time I have ever over stepped the boundaries of the family values

"But you'll be lead" he starts but I cut him off

"I am an adult and I am old enough to decide what I want to do in a courtship. You're making me mad now. Please leave Alex and I alone so we can discuses our courtship rules" I say and he looks really shocked like he has just seen a ghost or me kill someone. I grab Alex's hand and pull her away from my family before they create a scene.
