1 Year Later

Y/N'S POV

And so they did, we didn't hear anything after that from any of them. I exclusively went roving the area around the lodge before deciding the authorities were at least best at this job. I felt like such a fuck up, never really got a chance to do anything right. Thing is an all too strange face from the mountain came down and gave me a peculiar offer. One that I took up.

For the bulk of the year I was on the mountain. Until about a month ago I went back to working a farm outside of Edmonton. Chris met up with me and we continued to chat mildly for about a month until we got an invite to go back to the mountain by none other than Josh himself. I felt bad for what happened to his sisters and did want to go. So I decided to head there, with a hefty amount of convincing from Chris.

He had already made his way to the cable car and gave me text saying he'd meet me there.

I left the coach and walked towards the cable car slowly. Very very quickly I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Sam.

"Hey, I saw you on the bus. You didn't see me though."

I smiled slightly, oh I knew for a fact she was there.
"I mustn't have seen you."

We both began to walk to the cable car station. This was a short yet suttily nice walk, I kept sensing her giving me sideways glances.

We reached a small gate with a note on it, Sam read it before turning to me,

"Well, we need to climb over. Gates busted and Chris has been through here."

"Well ok then. Come here and I'll boost you up."

I stood at the face of the wall and held my hands clasped together. She ran towards me and placed her foot on my hands and i launched her up to the top of the wall. I then rumbled around to find my climbing pick that was in my pack of climbing tools. Sam on the other side of the gate said,

"I never knew you did climbing Y/N. Why are you using a pickaxe?"

"I've done it for as long as I know, and if you did it too then you'd know this is a climbing pick, the whole extension of your climbing abilities thing if you had an instructor. I had one then picked many of it up myself."

I ran towards the wall, planted one foot about halfway and the pick into the top. Then i pulled myself over.

I let the pick fall on the small noose on my backpack and it stayed there.

We started walking again so Sam started talking.

"So, how have you been since last year?"

"Alone, you?"

Her demeanor changed a bit, she did not expect an answer like that.

"Well, I've been at college. Hey, how come I've never seen you at college?"

"I left high school and tried working on my own farm. Inherited it and live there with my cousin who kinda acts like my foster father."

She smiled at that.

"Oh well that's sweet of him to let you stay."

"No I let him stay after the rest of the family disowned us two."

"Oh well that's just nice of you."

We both gradually came over a few signs, Cree totems, butterflies that sort of thing until we came to the cable car. But as we reached the cable car we found Chris fiddling with his phone, he saw us and jumped up.

"Y/N, Sam. How are you guys?"

Sam replied,

"Dandy how are you?"
