Everyone lies. It's human nature. Some people do it to protect someones feelings, others do it so their punishment isn't as bad. But no matter what the reason is, lying is wrong.

Sadly my life is all about lies. People around me lie, I lie, there just isn't a safe haven.

My mom always taught me to lie on the minimum. She was always a movie fanatic, so she believed some people had to lie to protect other people. She was always a wise person, and I'd like to believe she passed it on to me. In fact my mom and I are, well were, very alike. She was so carefree and did extraordinary things, and really didn't give a sh+t what people thought of her.

As I walk down the hallway of Padderwick mental hospital, many thoughts of her flood into my mind. She always was so kind to people, I guess that's why she worked here.

My other sister, Katy, is a patient here, sadly. When she was around 6 or 7 she threatened to kill Kim because Kim stole her cookie. It wasn't very surprising to very many people. When she was born, she started developing some form of schizophrenia, which led to her not wanting anything with a face, besides a family member, near her. No dolls, posters, or T.V. She just always looked scared and I always felt bad for her.

Today is her sixteenth birthday, and I secretly brought her a vanilla cupcake. When I went through security, I just said it was for her dear nurse Rose, for taking such good care of her.

I turned a corner until I was in front of the giant cafeteria doors. "ID ma'am." A security guard sternly spoke. I pulled out the little paper card they gave me, growing quite impatient with all the damn security. They have to notify the nurse, so she can tell the patient, and also have a guard near the visiter. After talking through the walkie-talkie, he finally opened the doors and I sashayed past the slightly attractive man.

I looked around until I saw my gorgeous sister in ugly green. The poor people have to wear such ugly gowns and uniforms, it just breaks my already broken heart.

As soon as I see those beautiful hazel eyes I ran right up to her and gave her a big bear hug. "Hey Sis, Happy Sweet Sixteen!" I smiled. She laughed a little and pulled back to look at me. "Thank you." She softly spoke. "How are you?" I ask pulling up a chair to her table. "I'm fine, the people aren't bothering me anymore." She sighed. "Oh I promises they are gone, okay?" I reassured. "Okay." she grinned.

I looked down at my un-manicured nails and remembered the blue nail polish in my purse. "Well, I brought you something special." I grinned, handing over the paper bag. "A CUPCAKE?" She squealed. A security guard turned over at us and I flipped him off. There was no reason to ruin this happy moment. "Hush girl, you aren't even supposed to have this." I scolded. "Right, sorry." She pouted. "Now, hurry up and eat that, I have an idea." I smirked.

When she was finished, we got up and went to nurse Rose, who sat there doing a crossword puzzle. "Excuse me, can we go to the patient/visitor room?" I asked the older woman. She looked up and smiled warmly at me, "Sure honey, follow me." She pushed herself up and told a security officer to follow her as well.

We walked up to a small box shaped room with a table and a few chairs. Rose pulled me back a little as Katy continued into the room.

"Sweetie, if anything happens in there, you push that red button on the wall ya here?" She whispered in her very southern accent. "Okay." I huffed and walked into the small bland room.

"So," I said taking a seat. "both of our hands are looking a hot mess to be honest." I chuckled. She giggled "Right." "So, I brought two bottles of water, two bowls, lotion, nail polish, Q-tips, tooth picks, and a giant towel." I cheekily smiled. "You are the best sister ever!" She grinned giving me another hug.
