July 6th, 2017 | Day 1 – Where Everything Falls into Place | Ashlynn (Part One)
I'm so happy! School's over. I have 2 months to do what I want when I want. For example, today my friend, Sara, and I were going to this barbeque that her cousin is throwing. The only reason, I'm going is because my 'mom' forced me to. She said it would help me find my inner self. Seriously? At a barbeque? I think the real reason is because she wanted to have some quality time with my 'dad' (wink*wink*). Either way, it's not like I really cared. I'd be home just watching re-runs of some television show, anyways.
So, here I am. In my room, with Sara, finding something in my closet for me to wear. It has been deemed a very difficult situation. We've been here for a good 5 minutes. Sara, looking for clothes. Me, staring at my wall. Random thoughts pass through my mind and I just wait for Sara to find me an outfit. Then, she shrieks. I jump and look over at her to see what happened. I expect to see a huge insect, but instead I see her holding a nice floral dress with some tan wedges. I roll my eyes.
"Okay. Ash, I need you to get ready as fast as possible because the barbeque starts in half an hour. We also need to- "Sara fades off as I go into the bathroom to change. I take off my sweatpants and my shirt and throw on the outfit Sara gave me. I brush through my knotted brown mess called hair and do my best to make my hair look nice. I curl the ends and then I grab my phone. Before leaving my room, I spray my perfume all over my body. What? I can't just look good. I must smell good, as well.
I rush out my room and head downstairs. At the bottom, I lean on the banister and put on the wedges. Once the wedges are laced, I yell out for my best friend. "Sara! I'm ready!" I yell as I grab my car keys off the hook next to the coat rack by the door. I look at myself in the mirror and realize how much effort I put into looking cute. I must say, I don't look half bad. Before I could continue looking at myself, Sara comes up behind me.
"Wow, Ash. You look amazing. I should force you to dress up more often." She says. After her quick look over, we walk out of my house and to my car in the driveway. Backing out, I tell Sara to put the directions to her cousin's house and connect her phone to my car's Bluetooth. With the help of maps, I was able to drive to Sara's cousin's house with no problem. Pulling up, you could tell that I would have to park on the grass or on the side of the road.
After parking, I turn off and exit the car. Sara power walks through the grass, onto the sidewalk, and to the front door while I'm locking the car and taking my sweet time. When Sara turns back to see if I'm following, she realizes I'm taking my time and yells out my name. "Ash! Stop walking so slow!" I roll my eyes and pick up the pace. At Sara's side, she knocks on the door. After a couple minutes of waiting, the door opens and reveals a little girl.
"Hi, Sara. Who's this?" She says, cutting straight to the chase. Well. That's pretty cute, to be honest.
"Delia! That is no way to treat my best friend." Sara scolds. I nudge Sara and give her a look. She sighs and give the girl a smile. "Sorry, D. I'm just really excited for you guys to meet her." The little girl smiles showing her missing front tooth. I smile and can't help but melt at the sight.
"You're really pretty. There's food in the back." She leaves and runs off somewhere. I laugh at how adorable she is. Sara drags me into the house and to the backyard.
"Okay. Let me introduce you first and then you can continue the conversation. Also, if you spot a possible candidate for your future boyfriend, you let me know. I will help you." She slides open the sliding door leading to the backyard and I'm greeted with the delicious barbeque smell. A smile graces my face as Sara drags me to the first group of people. Here it goes.
A couple hours later, I've met Sara's three uncles, two aunts, five cousins, and her grandmother. They all love me. Apparently, I'm the angel that has blessed Sara's life. Everything was going awesome until I went for my phone and realized that I didn't have it. Ugh! That means it's in the car. I mentally groan before whispering in Sara's ear that I had to go get my phone from the car. She gives me an 'okay' and I'm on my way. I walk inside of the house, exit through the front door, and make my way to my car. On my way to the car, I hear a big pop. Kind of like fireworks. Wait, Sara's family doesn't have fireworks. Stop! I need to stop thinking negatively. Breathe in. Breathe out. Everything is okay. I grab my phone and lock the car.
Turning around, I see an unexpected sight. An older man was standing about forty feet away. Looking at him, I could see that he seemed to be staggering towards me. I take a step forward, like the curious cat I am, and see that the man is bleeding. Badly. So, I speak up.
"Excuse me, sir? Are you okay? Are you injured?" I ask while cautiously taking small steps towards him. As I near him, I see that the wound is bleeding profusely. Yet, all the man is doing is murmuring. When I'm close enough to touch him, I tap his shoulder. He looks at me so fast that I jump back at the motion. He stares at me with big beady black eyes. Instead of running away, I keep eye contact for some weird reason. After staring into his eyes, there's a spark in those old eyes of his. Then, there's another spark, and we're no longer in Sara's cousin's front lawn. We're in a house. A lavish one. Looking around, I see a nice room. It was perfect for me. The walls were a nice lilac color. My favorite color, in fact. The beg was against the wall farthest from the door. The sheets were a mix of white and lilac with sprinkle of gold. The walls were mostly plain except for the wall my bed was against. There were pictures of a girl. The first few that I looked at, the girl wasn't facing the camera. Oh, geez. The pictures are of me. I'm the girl.
I need to get out of here. I thought to myself. How did I even get here? The old dude. I see a door to opposite of the bed. I run to it and pull on it. I twist the knob and bang on the door. It's locked. What do I do now? I back away from the door and can feel the panic rushing in. I back up so far, I end up sitting on the bed. I stare at the door. My only way out is not even a way out. I'm trapped.
