Black panther, black panther

He'll come in the night.

Black panther, black panther

With eyes shining bright

Black panther, black panther

He quietly creeps.

Black panther, black panther

All he steals he keeps.

That was the rhyme everyone knew. Don't leave washing out on the line for too long, don't leave your windows opened or doors unlocked, don't let your children out on the streets for too long. Because even children got stolen once in a while.

There was nothing anyone could do about it. There would never be any trace that anyone had taken anything. Although in some ways they were like the modern day Robin Hood. They only stole from people who had something. People who had too much. Unlike Robin Hood, nothing was given back to the poor and you could guarantee that once something goes missing it is never seen again.

Luckily, I am one of the people with nothing. So I am left well enough alone. Well... I was, until a ten pound note and a patch of ice changed everything.
