Smoke infected my lungs and hazy streaks of neon filled my vision. Blood streamed from my silver knife like teardrops and all I could do was watch. Gazes were fixed on my dead eyes expectantly like sheep, waiting for the next order from their queen.  I lifted my head to focus on the boy in front of me, unfazed by scene spread out around us, he tilted his head as if to ask permission to talk. I simply nodded to his request. Silently and stoic he walked closer and sat on the velvet chair, commanding attention with every movement. "Nova Cunning, long time no see. I'm pleasantly surprised actually, I've looked over the business and there's been quite an improvement" A smirk made its way to my lips, staying for a second then blowing into a full grown grin. And back came the all too familiar smile, gracing his lips and making its way to his whirlpool eyes. Neither of us made a move to get out of our seats to embrace, although it wasn't necessary, we could read each others minds effortlessly, there was no need for physical contact to reassure the emotions we felt. "Good to have you back Jackson."  The tension in the room fizzled down, leaving only smiles and an aura of happiness .

The man sitting across from me was the one and only Lukka Jackson, former crime lord of Spain and one of my only friends. As legend has it, my father set me up to be the next Queen of Ace's. When he died my Uncle decided to take over as I was too young, at least that's what he told everyone. Truth was he was a power-hungry bastard so he made a deal with Lukka's family,  we were to be betrothed to keep the allegiance between our families as soon as we turned 22. Lukka and I, quite obviously, hated this plan so we overthrew the kings and queens and took our rightful places. However, through all of that we grew close, almost too close. We were best friends and vowed to take care of each other so together we ruled our crime kingdoms and unsurprisingly we became the top crime kingdoms in the world. All good things come to an end however, when his lover died in the crossfire in one of the  raids that took place upon my land. They were visiting for a month as their wedding was to be held here, in the U.S, and then came the fatal shot. Lukka fell into a lapse of depression and cut himself off from the world. He still contacted me on occasion but as he had left his Kingdom to mourn, tensions rose between our kingdoms. If we weren't careful it could come to an all-out war.

I dismissed the soldiers and turned my attention back to Lukka. He looked healthier, stronger and better and although i'd never admit to it, I was worried sick these past few  years and looking at him now it made my heart swell with happiness. "I'm sorry for leaving you hermosa, I really am. I'm disgusted by the state of my kingdom. I can only hope no harm has come to yours." Lukka spoke as his eyes filled with unshed tears, gesturing to the scene spread around us. "Oh Jackson, when will you realise that my primary concern is you, the kingdoms come later. Us against the world. And you know us Ace's, tough as nails. No one died and the few that are injured should recover fully by the end of the fortnight." I leaned back in my chair smugly as a few chuckles were let out.

We filled the night with mindless chatter and laughter to fill the missed years, allowing ourselves to escape our reality for the night. We ended up at by the fire, curled into each other. I held onto his shirt for dear life, afraid of losing the idiot again. And so there we lay, peacefully. Or not. " Sir Lukka, Queen Nova, there is a man demanding your presence at this moment"
