Felicity

Have you ever witnessed or experienced something in your life that you thought was going to be good but it actually turns out to be awful and it makes your life a living hell?

And I really mean a living hell. It's not something like telling a kid that Santa Claus does not exist and he gets upset for over a week thinking that his life is a lie and all that shizzle. It's something that makes your life go downhill and it limits your skills and options to do anything and it depresses you more than you already are because you feel worthless, useless and a burden to anyone who gets close to you.

Whenever you feel good or happy about anything, something always happens that changes your mood completely. It's like life doesn't want you to be happy at all and is haunting you to make sure you're always frowning.

That's what's happening to me. I can't seem to get happy about anything anymore because something always happens that makes me regret feeling the way I did. I have distanced myself from a lot of things that I like because the feeling of happiness or joy that I get doesn't last very long so it was better to just stay away from anything that had to do with the word "fun" and move on with my monotonous life that doesn't seem to end.

"Felicity, hurry up or you'll end up missing the bus!!" Cassidy yelled from downstairs.

I rolled my eyes but quickly got my stuff before running down the stairs. I passed by the kitchen and grabbed myself an apple to eat for lunch. I got out of the house and walked to the bus stop.

It was my first day and to say I'm nervous is an understatement. I'm actually terrified. I had to change schools because of some unpleasant events that occurred last year. I was kind of glad that my new principal knows some of my issues so I don't have to explain my every move to the teachers and embarrass myself in front of everybody but I'm still hoping to end that school year on good terms with everyone I meet there.

Anyway, I sat on the bench waiting for the bus until some guy came and sat next to me. He seemed my age or older so he was probably going to school just like I was.

"Hey, I haven't seen you before. Are you new here?" He asked. I looked at him and nodded my head as if to say yes.

"Oh nice! What's your name?"

I internally sighed before getting my phone out. I opened a special app that I downloaded a year ago and typed my name. Then a female voice, coming from my phone, spoke it out. It was an app for people who don't talk. It's weird, I know, but it helps me communicate with people and that's how I explained some of my issues to my new principal without actually opening my mouth.

The guy looked weirded out at first but then moved on as if nothing happened.

"It's nice to meet you Felicity. My name is Jonathan." He said and held his hand out to shake mine. I took it and gave him a small smile.

I looked at him and he seemed oddly familiar. I don't know why but it's like I knew him from somewhere. I then widened my eyes in realization. Oh my god. That's Jonathan Bankston! He was my childhood best friend and I can't believe he's right in front of me.

"Jonathan Bankston?" I typed into my phone.

"Uhm, yes? How do you know my last name?" He asked perplexed.

"We were best friends in primary school before you left." I typed and gave him a shy smile.

"No way! Felicity Lancaster??"

"It's Ackerman now." I corrected him through my phone.

He looked at me with an expression that I couldn't read but I assumed it was confusion. I sighed because I didn't want to explain my whole story to him. I know we were best friends when we were little but we grew up. I barely know him now so I can't really trust him and just tell him everything. He could turn out to be an asshole for all I know.
