His Betrayal

Prologue

LILITH

When I wake up, I try to forget the reoccurring nightmare. The memories of that night flash before my eyes almost every night when I can finally find sleep. The dreams become more vivid around this time of year... my birthday. James Maroon, the one I thought was the love of my life, betrayed me. The image of him fleeing the scene of the crime with his traitorous family. I hear gunshots fired by them on that night. The worst image being James holding a gun at my head while I'm paralyzed from the shock. The last thing I remember is hearing his gun fired at me and I wake up drenched in sweat in a state of panic. Looking around I remind myself that I'm in my own room. The events from five years ago haven't allowed me a moment of peace. They are also the reason I joined my parents in the family business. My father Dante Rose is CEO of one of the biggest Home Security companies in the world, Ro Co. Securities. At least that's what this world thinks that's what we do, that's just a cover up for our real company. To the people, we sell the most high-tech home security, but to the government we are Ro Co. SpyNet. As one can guess from the name, we're spies, but not just any spies. We're the most trained, most well equipped, most stealthy and richest spies in the entire world. I officially joined four years ago and I have been training harder than anyone. The year prior I went through eight months of depression, the next four I spent trying to convince my father to let me join the company.

JAMES

It had been five years since the day I left the love of my life for my mobster family. What choice did I have, they're my family. Of course it was hard to leave my precious rose, but, I didn't let my family know. They all think I chose them over her, and that's what I wanted her to think, I didn't want to drag her into this. When my father explained that he was a mobster, I didn't need to hear anything else, I needed her safe and out of this. It terrified me when I saw my sister Heather trying to attack my beloved and her little brother Dante Jr. I thought at least my sister would have some humility, I mean he's just a kid. Two years of finally trying to piece together the "family business" together, my father, the famous mobster Mason Maroon Sr. a.k.a. Malicious Madman chooses me as his heir, even though I'm the youngest. My older brother Mason Jr. didn't seem to appreciate that, but he did whatever my father decided, he had to abide by it. A while after that my father made me start training to become an assassin. Unfortunately my mother had to take over my training due to my father being murdered by my love's own assassins. My mother was furious and wanted revenge, and she trained all three of me and my siblings.
