For the past two days I've stayed with Eve in the hospital. Diego had gone to my house to try and find clues and talk to neighbors to see if they saw anything. He also brought me clean clothes so I could shower and change here. Diego hasn't tried to send me away either, he knows better. Today is the day that Eve can go home and I don't know if I want to let her but she is no safer at my home than she is at her own. Diego is going to keep a close eye on her and on me from here on out. People are out to get me and he doesn't want that to become a habit. If something seems out of place Diego will be investigating it himself or getting his best guys on it. I trust him with my life.

I went down to get coffee from the cafeteria and when I came back Eve wasn't in her bed. Panic filled my entire body. I walked back out of her room and looked at the CDA agent standing guard.

"Where the hell did she go? YOU ARE STANDING RIGHT HERE!" I yell a little bit louder than I intend.

I walk into the room and he follows me without a word. I start looking for a note but when I turn around Eve is standing in front of me and the guard is back at his post.

"Where the hell were you?" I asked, more assertive than I should have. She laughed, she actually laughed, and I was taken back by it.

Eve walked over to me and placed her hand on mine, "Sorry. I was just in the bathroom getting dressed, I didn't mean to freak you out." She tilted her head and smiled, "Let's get out of here." She said and turned towards the door.

I placed my arm in hers and let her lean on me. With that, we walked out of the hospital and I'd hope neither of us would ever be back here again.

Eve, Diego and I sat in a CDA safety car. We sat mostly in silence watching the highway through the windows. It wasn't long before we arrived at my house. I gave Eve a big hug and made eye contact with Diego. "You keep her safe," I told him before getting out of the car.

I was dreading having to go back to work tomorrow. I wanted to spend each moment I could with Eve. I wanted to protect her. I walked from the car to my house slowly. Anxiety rose up in me. I hadn't been home since I found Eve. As I approached the door I took a deep breath. I searched through my purse for my keys and my phone went off.

Instantly I thought of Eve and pulled it out. It was just a text from Jacob. I opened it.

Can we meet up tonight? I'd like to talk about your employment with me. I know it could wait until tomorrow but I'd rather do it tonight.

At first, I was annoyed with his text. He just told me the other day was his superhero. Now he was questioning my employment with him. After the annoyance faded I texted him back.

Of course, what time should I meet you? I asked.

I opened the door and went inside. I was nervous but I knew I had no reason to be. The house had no bugs, Diego and his IT guys checked. As far as anyone knows the house is clean as can be. They even changed all the locks for me. Diego also had a cleaning crew come and wipe down everything. No speck of dust, dirt... or blood would be left behind.

I walked straight up the stairs and placed my dirty clothes in the hamper. I placed my purse and other belongings on my bed as I went to take a shower. I turned the water on as hot as I could make it. I had to melt the stress away. I used my time in the shower to meditate and clear my mind. Time passed slowly in the shower.

When I emerged from the shower it looked like a sauna in my bathroom. There was so much steam. I couldn't help but laugh. I walked over to the mirror and drew a smiley face with my fingers. I left the bathroom and walked to my bedroom to get dressed.
