There is never a day you don't see me with a book. I am in 8th grade, and haven't hung out with my old friends since 6th grade. But I think they notice that I have a different book each week, or every other day, depending on how big the book is.

But one day, Maylen and Lili came up to me. It really surprised me, because they haven't talked to me for two years. Or the other way around, I have no idea.

"Hey Paris, could we come over today?" Lili asked kinda calmly, probably cause she hasn't talked to me in two years.

"Yea, our parents already said it was ok." Maylen added.

"Um sure." I said, "But I'll tell you a few things at lunch that have changed." They both only nodded in agreement, and we went on with our day.

Soon enough, lunch came around. Lili, Maylen and I went to sit at our normal lunch table. Our other friend Kathy moved away in 7th grade. "So, what did you want to tell us? Like about your place?" Maylen asked

After a took a few bites of my food, I answered. "Ok first, my Mom is like, never home, cause she always has business trips. So I basically live alone." They both nod. "Um, I have a lot more books now then I did."

"I can't wait to see your collection!" Maylen gasped out. I chuckle.

"Well you'll just have to see for yourself." I said as I take out Kings Cage. This is the 4th time I've read this book now.

"Woah, I thought you didn't read that series anymore?" Maylen said as she took a bite of her yogurt.

"Yea, I noticed you stopped reading that as well.." Lili chimed in.

"I've finished the series..three times." I say as I flip the page. And take a bite of my sandwich. "This will be my fourth time." I say as I flip the page again. Over the years, I've become a really fast reader.

"Wow." Was all Maylen said.

The rest of school went by pretty quickly, and it was time to go home. All of us met up by the doors to leave, and left. When we were walking to my apartment, I think Lili and Maylen were talking. But I'm not sure, cause I was lost in my book.

Once we got to my apartment, I took out the key and unlocked the front door. When we got inside I saw the my friends look around in awe.

The room was cover wall to wall with bookshelf's with books leaving no space for anything. Sun was shining through the window making the grey room look a little brighter. There was a lot of cobwebs around in the corners of the room, and dust particles everywhere. The light made them shimmer in the room. "Let's go to my room.." I say as I flip a page.

"Oh my god..." I hear Maylen mumble to Lili. "Even I don't have that many books."

"Yea, I get a lot of books from working at the library." I say as I enter my room, and hopped on my bed.

"You work at Barns n' Nobles??" Maylen asked with surprise in her face and voice.

"Yea, your work?" Lili added.

"No, I don't work at Barns n' Nobles, you know the shutdown library down the road from here?" They nod. "I stared a fun raiser with some people who wanted to own the building, to get the place back open.. we got enough money, now I work there.." I finish and look at them. I see they're looking around my room. And I would too. I've made my room to look.. I guess you could say- "Fairy-like".

"My god.. that's... pretty cool." Maylen says taking in the room and what I had just said.

"Could you take us to the library?" Lili asked and looked at Izzy then me.

"Yea!" Maylen gasped.

"Mmmmmm, I guess." I say putting the book on my bed and getting up. "It's only open on the weekends right now, cause I'm really the only worker. But I don't mind." I say and go get the key to the front door of the library.

"Dang." Maylen said.

"Well isn't Friday?" Lili asked looking at her phone, "Yea, it's Friday. Would the Library be open right now?" They both looked at me.

"Yea, I guess it would be." I look at the calendar on my phone and see that I do have work today. "Ok, let's go." I say as I put on my hoodie and head to the library, Lili and Maylen following close behind.
