Alex had started packing supplies for the journey ahead already, but as I came here vulnerable expecting only a short journey with Omro, I had nothing. He packed the essentials: rope, torch, water bottle, blanket, soap and a first aid kit and put them in a sturdy army green rucksack but there was one thing I didn't quite see. "We are to leave as soon as possible. We can't risk the dark treacherous wilderness." Alex said, waiting for me by the door. I called over Omro, rushed out the door and climbed onto my dragon reassuringly. Keeping myself balanced, I waited for a hand signal from Alex, indicating he was ready. We steadily lifted our feet from the ground and soured into the air leaving the beautiful bungalow behind in the damp green forest.
Eventually we found a sheltered crystal cave to spend the night. We set up a warm blazing fire made of the firewood we found on our short stops throughout the journey. We huddled round the fire in our cosy blue blanket and used a torch as a light and to guide us when we needed anymore supplies like food, water or firewood. A few hours later everyone was sound asleep, except one... Since the break of dawn, Omro had been pacing nervously up and down the entrance of the cave solicitous of what was yet to come.
I was woken up by Omro's licking my face and he was nudging me to the side, trying to get me awake as soon as possible. Alex scrambled to his feet ( collecting every utensil we owned) as soon as he realised I was awake. "Aria, help me! We need to leave as soon as possible. There is something lurking in the shadows which we don't want to be in contact with. Omro told me he saw it when he went out for a drink: he isn't lying, I could see the honesty and danger in his eyes." Alex said, worried. "Now get on your dragon and go! I'll meet up with you on the far side of the volcano by the coast and hide - don't worry I'll be right behind you."
I jumped onto Omro's back and he flew as fast as he could over the forest and into a mystical waterfall near a beach keeping out of sight. Alex soon joined us, too soon to be comforting. "How did you find us so easily?" I asked.
"I have my ways..." He said suspiciously and stopped the conversation.
"Now what?" I asked. "Whats so difficult about getting off this island?"
"We have to get past that..."Alex said pointing in the direction where a rumbling sound was coming from.
"That's easy." I said confidently. "Watch. And. Learn." I ran down the pathway and onto the beach. I reached out for the sea but before I could touch it, a rain cloud hovered over my head and thousands of tiny raindrops fell getting me soaked. I glanced back at Alex as I stood standing stationary for a few minutes but abruptly a lightning bolt zoomed out the cloud and demolished my wings completely. I was now a wingless fairy. "I see what you mean about this being... Difficult. Don't worry I'm fine." I shouted making sure he heard."I couldn't feel anything anyway ; my wings are broken. So what do we do?" I asked
"We need to build a trap. Throw something towards the sea, while it's busy with that we quickly fly out dodging any remaining lightning bolts. Now what do we use as bait?" Alex thought. He had come up with a great plan, the question is will it work?
"I found a small round table." I said slowly, peeking round a corner confused.
"That will do nicely." Alex said.
"But why is it there?" I asked.
"No time for questions, lets escape!" Alex cried excitedly.
We both got either side of the table and brought it out the flowing waterfall: it was quite heavy for a table that size so I struggled, but Alex held it as if he was carrying a feather. We paused just before reaching the sea so that I could get onto Omro and so Alex could get his rucksack on. Alex took hold of the table and it launched into the ocean with a powerful lightning bolt behind it. That was our cue. Omro had flown at rapid speed through an invisible border and into the Savanna Sea area. Alex was hot on our trail, he flew so fast you couldn't see his wings flap but all of a sudden something fell. It was a small metallic golden object which made a whistled as it fell.
Alex took a sharp turn (one hundred and eighty degrees) and dived down to get it. I tried to call "Stop! Is it worth risking your life for that thing ." But the only response I got was "It's not my life I'm saving, it's yours. I'll be fine, now go before the monster mother shows up."
I pulled out my map and guided Omro in the direction of our home island. We were both sad to leave Alex alone but I knew he would pull through and we'd reunite with him once we land. I felt a strange tug on me as the island slowly revealed itself over the horizon. I saw an elderly fairy hovering above the ocean half a mile away from the island. She was looking as if she had lost something so I decided to help her out - just like mother taught me. As soon as she saw a glimpse of me she contacted someone from a magical mirror and shouted out " Queen Blossom, I have found her, I found her! She is in line with the northeast rose tree!" Suddenly a poof of magical fairy dust appeared out of thin air and there was my mother...
