on monday morning, mackenzie sat, squeezed to the extent that she was unable to breathe, on the stuffy subway.

the two angry passengers on either side of her were both yelling at the other, over mackenzie, who sat hunched, sipping her starbucks, and darting from the spit coming out of their mouths.

she regretted buying the coffee. she was afraid that she would spill it all over her new clothes that the vinecnt's had been kind enough to buy for her.

a voice over the PA broke her train of thought. "ladies and gentlemen. please remain patient. we are facing a technical difficulty and the train will be delayed by ten minutes." mackenzie didn't mind the delay as much as she minded her position. she would still make it on time.

it was only half an hour later that the train started moving. fifteen minutes after that was when mackenzie finally reached her destination.

she was on her way for a meeting with capitol records.

mackenzie got out of the subway and as she glanced around at the busy station, a young boy bumped into her, causing her to spill half of her coffee on herself.

mackenzie gasped, before groaning in dismay. her groan stopped the boy, who turned to glare at her.

mackenzie was at loss for what to say. she opened and closed her mouth, similar to a goldfish's actions, before yelling in dismay, in the first language that came to her mind.

"oh, mais qu'est-ce que tu peux être bête! tu the rends compte de ce que tu viens de faire, espèce d'idiot! comment est-ce que je vais aller à ma réunion maintenant? on venait de m'acheter ce manteau, bon sang! quoi! en plus, tu te marres!" she shrieked.

( TRANSLATION: How can you be so stupid? Do you realize what you've just done? How am I supposed to go to my meeting now? I just bought his coat! And now you're laughing! You have some nerve! )

and it was true. the young boy just laughed. he couldn't hide his amusement. the young, pretty girl, with a coffee stain on her new coat shouting at him in a foreign language was fat too funny for him to remain apologetic:

mackenzie couldn't believe it! how could this boy just stand and laugh at the mess he made?

before she could change her mind, she chucked the remainder of her coffee on the poor boy, who was oblivious to what just happened. before he could respond, mackenzie stormed off.

as she walked on, recalling dale's directions, the only thing she could ponder over was why she chose to yell at the stupid boy in french. she hated french.

settling on the idea that whatever she'd yelled had probably been wrong, mackenzie shrugged off her thoughts and her new coat as well. it would look terrible if she walked into the office with a brown stain on her clothes, on her very first day. about five minutes later, mackenzie finally arrived at the tall building.
