Ok so I had an article in my journalism class that was due last month and my teacher just wanted me to turn something in, so he decided I could write about anything I want. So I wrote about boy bands, here's the A+ article in case you're interested.

The New Wave

Doc Martens, mom jeans, and chokers, the 90's have been making a comeback in the year 2018. The revival of the 90's has also brought back a revival of the ever popular boy bands. Bands of the day like N'Sync and Backstreet boys have lead the way for newer bands like PRETTYMUCH and Why Don't We.

Male solo artists, such as Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, have been dominating the billboard music charts for much of the current decade, but with One Direction's hiatus announced in 2016, we were left with a gap for a new boy band.

On August 13th, 2017, Simon Cowell's latest quintet, PRETTYMUCH, hit the stage for the first time. Their synchronized dance moves and up beat pop track gave America their first taste of the new wave of boy bands. Inspired by older artists, PRETTYMUCH's 90's style has something for everybody. Their first pop track, Would You Mind, easily could've fit on a New Kids On The Block album. The group's Vocals-and-choreo combination hasn't been seen on this level since N'sync took the world by storm. The boy band, made up of members Zion Kuwonu, Brandon Arreaga, Austin Porter, Nick Mara, and Edwin Honoret, please not only the tweens of the current generation, but also the parents. "The world's ready for another boy band," Honoret said to billboard in August 2017.

Over the past year, in addition to PRETTYMUCH, several other boy bands have been popping up. In 2016, Why Don't We, first sprung into the hearts of tweens. Consisting of members Jonah Marais, Zach Herron, Jack Avery, Daniel Seavey, and Corbyn Besson, This boy band is a fit for the current internet-oriented generation.

The boys of this group take a different approach to boy band stardom, with a more-is-more approach. Why Don't We has released 5 EPs and several singles. "If you're just constantly dropping content, the fans love it," said Besson to billboard.

The boy band industry has always been competitive. With New Kids on the block and Backstreet Boys battling for fans in the 90's, and One Direction and The Wanted battling for pop supremacy in the recent decade, Why don't we and PRETTYMUCH don't feel the need for competition. "The world's big enough for two boy bands," PRETTYMUCH's Arreaga said.

(P.S. I liked the way this one billboard article was written, so I tried modeling the writing style)
