Alex's POV

"Wake up!!"
I'm awoken early by the sound of pans and pots being hit together from the kitchen downstairs. When I roll over on the bed and grab my phone, checking the time.

8:00 am

I groan and stuff my face back into my pillow. Why is my mom waking me up so early? I don't have a first period class and I don't usually get there until second period starts at 9:45.

"Alex! Wake up!"

The noise is closer now, sounds like she's standing at my door.
I don't need to wake up for another hour and a half, why would I get up now?
Suddenly, the covers are violently ripped off of me and I groan again, covering myself with my arms to keep warm.
"I have to take John to the dentist this morning so I can't drive you later. I can take you now though, so get up. We leave in half an hour" I hear my mom say to me, making me sigh and sit up in my bed. I never get up this early.

"I'll pick you up after school. Have a good day!" She says to me when we pull up to the school. I nod in response and get out of the car, lugging my bag in. I don't have any strength this early in the morning. What am I even supposed to do for an hour and a half before my first class? Ugh.

As I walk down the hallway towards my locker, I see the principal, Mr. Johnston, standing with a boy I don't recognize. That's weird, I know everybody here. It's not a very big school.
"Ms. Callaghan, have you got a class first period? I don't usually see you here this early."  He asks me as I walk by. I look over at him and shake my head no.
"Very well, I have to make a call but can you show this young gentleman around the school then? He is new and in your year."
What? Not only do I have to be here this early but now I have to be a tour guide? What is this?
"Sir, I was planning on doing some homework actually"
I wasn't, but I sure don't want to have to show this new kid around.
"Ms. Callaghan, it shouldn't be a problem because your homework for today should be done already, isn't that right?"
The boy smirks at Mr. Johnston's comment and it only makes me not want to do it even more, but I guess I have to if I want to stay on his good side.
"Yes, sir. I always complete my homework on time."
"Thank you Ms. Callahan" He pats the boys shoulders and then walks back towards his office. Ugh. Why me? It couldn't have been anybody else?

"So.. are y'goin' to show me 'round or ya just goin' to stand there?" He asks, I can't help but notice his very strong accent. He's definitely not from around here.
"Yeah. Let's go."
I start walking down the hall, hoping he's following me. I need to make this as quick as possible so then I can go back to my original plan of doing nothing for the time before my first class.
"What's your name?" He asks me, running a bit to catch up with me.
"Alex" I say, not even looking at him.
"Cool. I'm Liam" He reaches out his hand to shake mine, but I don't make any attempt to remove my hands from my sweater pocket.
He awkwardly pulls his hand away after realizing I wasn't going to shake it.
"Why are you bein' so rude to me? I just got 'ere and I didn't do anythin' to you" He says in an accusing tone.
"Look, I don't know where you're from but people around here know not to bother me. I don't want to talk to you, I don't want to talk to anybody so if you could just shut up and walk around the school so this can be considered a 'tour' then that would be much appreciated." I seethe at him, then continue walking, leaving him standing there in shock.
"Who the fuck do you think you are talkin' to me like that!" He yells, grabbing my arm to stop my from walking away.
I pull my arm out of his grasp and shove him back by his shoulders
"I told you to shut up, you clearly don't listen!" I yell back and he looks at me with so much anger in his beautiful blue eyes, probably because he wants to hit me but knows he can't.
" Fuck you!! I don't need a tour, I can find my way around this building perfectly fine! It's not a big school or anything like I'm used to back home. I don't need you. I don't even want to look at you!" He growls at me before turning the other way and going into the stairwell.
What a jerk. I hope I don't have any classes with him. Honestly, I hope I never see him again. He was purposely trying to push my buttons. Everybody knows to just leave me alone, not to mess with me. I hate people like him. Idiot.
