Stacie was woken up by the loud noise of thunder in the middle of the night. She rolled her eyes and went back to sleep, but snapped her eyes open when she heard a slight wimper coming from Emily's side of the room.
She got out of her bed and cautiously made her way to her roomate's.
'Babe?'she asked softly, not wanting to startle the girl.'Is everything okay?'
'Stace? I'm scared.'she turned to face her, and Stacie could see tears streaming down her face and how much she was trembling.
'Hey, hey. Don't be scared.'the older girl said, sitting on the side of the bed and wrapping her girlfriend in a hug.'I'm here.' She rubbed soothing circles on the girl's back, whispering comforting words into her ear.
The senior pulled away when Emily stopped trembling, and looked her in the eye.
'Do you want to talk about it?' Stacie asked softly.
'Grandpa Joe passed away in a car crash last year, it was storming, like now. I don't want to lose anyone again, especially you.' the freshman said, sniffing.
'Oh, Em. I'm really sorry. But everything is going to be fine. I'm still here, see? Now go back to sleep, you'll need it.' the older girl gently laid her roommate down, giving her a kiss on her forehead.
'Don't go, please.' Emily asked with a small voice, eyes pleading as she cultched onto Stacie's arm. She looked like a child who is afraid of the dark, and Stacie's heart melted.
'I wasn't planning on leaving, sweetie.' she whispered, lying next to her girlfriend. She wrapped the blanket around them and motioned for Emily to turn towards the wall.
She put her hands around the younger girl's waist securely and received a sigh. She pressed a kiss on the girl's head before closing her eyes.
'Go to sleep, Em. I'm here.'
