Intro
I stretched out in bed, reaching over to flick on the radio. More news about Amon. I quickly turned it off. He gave me the creeps, knowing he could take my bending. I was an earthbender, just like my mother. My father is a stupid man. I hate him. He left us, our family, to join the Equalists.
“Remember, Amira,” He told me, resting his hands upon my shoulders. “I have to do this.”
“No you don’t,” I whispered.
He shook his head. “Amon is right, Amira.”
“NO!” I yelled and pinned him up against the wall, with help from my bending. “How could you do this?” I demanded.
He sighed. “I knew you wouldn’t understand. I’m a non-bender. We’re treated badly.”
“Only by stupid hood rats,” I snapped.
My mother came up behind me and took him off of the wall with her own bending.
“Zane, I’m quite surprised that you would do this.”
“I’m sorry, Jin,” He said, shaking his head. “I’m going to join them and be one of their warriors. G-goodbye.”
“You can’t just leave!” I screamed, bending so he was trapped in something that looked like a box, with his head poking out. “You’ve been here for eighteen years, and with me for fifteen. Is that really who you are?”
He sighed again. “It’s what I must do,”
I snorted. “Fine,”
My mom clenched her fists.
He stood in the middle of the room, awkwardly. There was a long silence.
“Get out!” I thunder.
He jumps, and scurries out, waving goodbye.
“My own husband,” Mom said, shaking her head. A tear rolled down her cheek. I wrapped my arms tightly around her, and we stood like that for a long time.
