The sun beat down onto the male's tall frame as he walked with a slightly bounce to his high school.
Usually practice would be early before school but the team was allowed to take the day off from volleyball, obviously that wouldn't stop Oikawa from playing around with balls (🌚🌚) after school with his childhood friend Iwazumi Hajime or Iwa-chan as the brown haired volleyball player called his friend.
'Speaking of Iwa-chan' He spoke to himself as he paused at the end of the street where they usually met up. No sight of the aggressive friend.
He hummed to himself trying to find a reason why his friend wasn't there waiting for him. He shrugged and thought
'Guess he got sick'
And thought nothing more of it, it would be a dull day without Iwazumi's scolding but the day could be potentially event full as he gets crowed with his fans almost everyday.
The way Oikawa's neighbourhood was and the path he used to get to school he would come in from behind the school where they had a long dirt path taking him up to the large building. Oikawa would have a conversation with Iwa-chan while taking this dirt path but it was unsettlingly quiet.
As much as Oikawa would be silent in matches while he focused he wasn't use to being the quiet type during school hours, he would be usually chirping about anything with the occasional reply from Iwa-chan. It was different
This day felt different
Suddenly he felt a smack as his body collided with the hard structure in front of him, he clumsy stumbled back as his bag dropped to the side of him
He scoffed hoping no one saw him lose his composure as he bumped into this tall being. He quickly reached down and snatched his (weave) bag, his hair bouncing as his spine shot back up to see what he ran into.
Oikawa excepted a pole or maybe a human, even Iwa-chan ready to laugh at his clumsiness in the morning but all he looked at was a tall, thick tree that stood much higher than the volleyball player. He chuckled softly
"You poor thing, I guess I should have payed more attention" He softly said as he laid a hand of the tree and begun walking up to the school.
A soft squeak was heard behind him
"Eh?" Oikawa spun around seeing if maybe a fan spotted him and made that noise but all he say was the same tree. The same tree with a small pink tint on it.
Oikawa's face blanked out as he stared at the tree. The tree just looked like an ordinary tree but it seemed like the longer he stared the pinker the spot on the tree got. He shook his head spinning on his heels finally ready to begin running up to the school to make sure he wasn't late.
As he stuck a foot out to begin running he heard a sigh of relief behind him in the same 'voice' as the squeak. He closed his eyes for a moment wondering what to do.
'This is stupid' He thought to himself as he strutted over the the same tree and gingerly poked it
"A-ah!" It somewhat yelled out the pink turning to a red
'Aha I must be having a silly dream right?' He spoke in his head looking utterly confused at the sight before him
A little 'hmph' came out of the tree almost like it was frustrated. Out of curiosity Oikawa decided to poke it again but a little harder this time.
"S-stop it!" The voice yelled out in a non masculine but non feminine way. He put his whole hand on the side of the tree, to anyone walking by it must have looked crazy but Oikawa couldn't focus on anything but the tingling feeling as he grasped the tree
The Tree voice shriek out loudly enough for a few other students to notice but they continued walking with weird looks towards the male and the tree.
"Y-you p-pervert!!" The tree yelled as Oikawa took his hand off in a swift motion. He wasn't sure how to respond.
"Sorry?" He spoke in a confused tone not completely sure of what he was experiencing right now.
The red only got deeper
"You should be!" The tree spoke clearly mad and embarrassed
"Baka" The tree muttered under their breath
Oikawa clearly heard the tree get angered at him but he brain wasn't calculating what was happening. A long strip of silence appeared
"Are you the tree talki-" He got cut off
"Of course I'm the tree talking! Do you see anyone else here!" He could see the flustered emotion of the tree through their words
"Sorry, I just well..."
"What?Tree's don't talk?"
"Well yea, can all of you talk" He got a bit closer as he spoke
He could feel the tree shrug. It murmured a bit before the bell cut their conversation short.
"Ah" He said it soft as he realized he still had a normal life with school. He looked at the tree wondering if he should attend today.
"Just go" If the tree had a face Oikawa would see their eyes fixed onto the ground as their words were laced with sadness.
'I guess trees get lonely too' he thought
"I'll meet you here again. At the outdoor classroom after school" He said with a wink as he jogged up to the school leaving the blushing tree to itself
He pinched himself making sure he wasn't dreaming
