No one sees me
No one hears me
To none, I am a friend
I am a threat to all
A deadly foe
Even though I help them beyond what they would ever know
They view me as their shadow
And as their enemy
My counterpart is spoiled by them
She is praised
Worshipped
Treated like a god
But they do not know
They do not know that without me
She cannot function
She cannot exist
And they would be lost
To them, I am cruel
I am a monster
I am evil for taking their loved ones away
They do not know
That this must happen
That it is essential for their world to keep going
That it is crucial for their own health
No one understands that I help
No one understands that I give them what they need
What they want
But also what they deserve
