Private chapter 3 after

Can't wait? The entire book is on Amazon (link on profile, Alice's story only)

There was no video even though this was a video file.  The screen remained black as a male voice sounding a lot like Dr. Gellium spoke.

“The specimen has gone through six surgeries in the past four days.  He’s been under the knife for well over fifty hours in those four days.  A normal specimen would not be able to take this strain, but his increased body mass and ability to withstand pain has helped with his capability to endure the long periods under the knife.  What we’ve done here is historical in medical breakthroughs and could change everything we know about genetic engineering.

“This is of course if we ever publish these findings.  Unfortunately due to the illegal nature of the surgery and the method in which we acquire test subjects this study will probably never see the light of day.  I expect this study to be filed and processed along with every other we’ve done to never be exposed to the modern scientific world.  We will forever remain the beacon of light in the Stone Age the rest of the world thinks is the cusp of the wave.

“In the last four days we have stabilized a super steroid which transformed an ordinary man to a beast with near Hulk-like powers.  This steroid with our procedure could theoretically create an army of super soldiers who could lift cars, smash through walls and take on a small army one on a thousand.  Too bad the steroid test was heavily illegal and the surgery to stabilize it was just as twisted as the drug.

“Testing down here comes with its downsides.  Our main funder certainly has a twisted agenda, so though we get infinite amounts of subjects to test on and the best products the things we create have a certain… pattern… we have to employ.  The super soldier we created has other super-human powers which, in a normal realm, would not be considered necessary or prudent.  His sexual organs worked just fine as they were, but our funder insisted that if we were to discover how to stabilize the patient we would have to add certain features…

“…Certain features that the patient wouldn’t approve of, nor were vital to his life.  But what the patient approves of never has been of a concern down here.  So much loss of life happens we become numb to the idea of it.  This is the cost of advancement.  Without the loss of human life we will never fully be able to improve as a species.  Even if thousands or tens of thousands may die in experiments we might one day, when the veil is pulled away, be able to save millions or billions with what we learned.

“Back to our patient.  We have also introduced an extremely addictive and deadly drug to his system, security to make sure he doesn’t go back on his word of giving his body to our donor.  If he takes a single pill of the drug a day when he wakes he shall live a completely normal life—or well at least as normal as it can be given where he’ll be living.  Missing one day of medication will result in excruciating stomach cramps by midafternoon, headaches by nightfall, delusions by supper, and convulsions by the next morning.  Within 48 hours of withdrawal there is a 92 percent chance the patient will be dead, those odds increase to 97 percent by 72 hours of which if he does manage to survive past that he has the smallest chance of recovery.  But even on recovery the damage to his body would be unrepairable and he’ll remain crippled for the rest of his life.

“As of now project codename Bruthamus is a complete success. Exact medical procedures, drugs used, adjustments made and all other vital information on the process will be filed with his record to be locked away and probably never see the light again.  Enjoy your life Bruthamus.  I would have chosen death, but if you’d rather live a fruitful life in hell that’s your choice.”

The recording ended here without any actual case file mentions or of the speaker’s name confirming he was indeed Doctor Gellium.
