It was a bright morning. The sun showed over a small house on a busy road. A comfortable smell of eggs and bacon filled the house up.

"Morning." A young woman, presumably in her twenties, raised her coffee cup in acknowledgement.

"You want me to drive you to school today? Or you could ride the bus with the obnoxious ki-"

"I go with you, K," a younger girl said amused at her mother's words.

"Okay, Ads," Katie said with a smile.

The two young women walked out to the elder's car.

Once they arrived at the Tipton-Excel High School, they walked through the main doors, their minds preparing themselves for high school.

“It’s going to be so weird being your teacher this year. I can’t believe I’m here!” Katie said.

“I can’t believe your here either, like, how the hell did you get hired at 27?” Ady exclaimed laughing.

“Says the 13-year-old in ninth grade,” Katie quipped back.

They continued strolling towards Katie’s new classroom. Many different expressions crossed Ady’s face. She was a year younger than the rest of the ninth graders, so her first day seemed almost terrifying.

Finally, they reached a large, brown door with the words, “MATH: 42” carefully engraved on it. By the frame there was a name plate. “Harrowe” in gold, sat upon it.

Once the pair got inside the room, Ady’s eyes wandered around the room. She took in every detail.

“So this is your room,” she said, her eyes still wandering around.

“Yeah!” Katie said enthusiastically. “And the best part is…” She trailed off before throwing her top, right-hand drawer open with a flourish. “Tada!” She said smiling, presenting her drawer of candies all shapes and sizes.
