Chapter One

My name is Zay. I'm a loner, I love anime and fanfiction. I am also gay. I get bullied because of that and anime is my only escape from the real world. I have dark brown hair and green eyes. I'm not very tall either.

I was watching one of my favorite anime's when I saw something from the corner of my eye. I turned to my iPad, examining it. My favorite character Kirito looked at me and started waving. I was confused, I stared at him for a minute and he seemed to look more close up. I looked up and gasped.

    I was in a whole new world! Not just any world though, the world of Sword Art Online. I seemed to be in a room, I looked around then saw a copy of SAO. How, it hasn't been released yet! Wait how did I know that?

    As soon as I realized I was a beta tester I started searching around 'my' room. I found the Nerve Gear and console and put the Nerve Gear on. I did the body check thing and yelled, "Link Start."

    I looked around and saw I was in a huge white room. I looked in front of me and saw I could customize my character. I made myself a girl just for the beta test so I won't be recognizable in the actual game. I started leveling up and going a floor up everyday and soon I was at level one hundred. "If I beat this I win the game!" I yell.

    A second later the game turned off and said beta test over. I yelled out in rage and threw my Nerve Gear off and headed to the store to camp out for the first release of the game. I had to make sure I was the first player so I could change my character to a boy so no beta tester noticed me.

In this life I live in a mansion and the doctors are ready for when I go into the game. They are going to make sure I stay alive for the two years. I will have the best doctors at my side while I am in the game so I don't have to worry about dying.

    The day has finally came. I'm going to get the game and transfer all my skills to the new character so I don't start from scratch. I rush into the store and head home, as soon as I'm inside I tell everyone to get the infirmary ready because I'm about to log on. I run I run to the infirmary, log on, and quickly change my character and log back in with my character that looked exactly like me. I start running to the fields so I can try to level up. I don't know if I will be able to level up with my high of level. A few hours later I only leveled up once and I was getting mad. I started heading towards the town of beginnings and head to the middle waiting for the force teleport.

    Maybe a minute later the rest of the players start spawning here and I get ready to do the most emotionless face I've ever done.

    The sky turned blood red and blood started pouring out. 'That's one heck of an entrance. Even though I knew this was going to happen it's still over the top watching it with my eyes.' I thought rolling my eyes.

    "Attention players, I welcome you to my world. My name is Akihiko Kayaba, and as of this moment I am the only person able to control this world. I'm sure most of you have already noticed that the logout button is missing from your menu. Let me inform you this is not a defect. I repeat this is not a defect, this is how Sword Art Online was designed to be. You can not log yourselves out of SAO and no one from the outside world will be able to shut down or remove the Nerve Gear from your head. Should this be attempted a transmitter inside the Nerve Gear will emit powerful microwaves destroying your brain and killing you instantly." Panic erupted from the crowd but few screams were heard, most people didn't believe it yet, "Despite my warning friends and family of some of the players attempted removing the Nerve Gear, as a result of this SAO has 213 less players than when it began. They've been deleted from both Aincrad and the real world." Pictures of news stations appear around the game master showing he isn't lying. "As you can see national TV has round the clock coverage of everything, including the deaths. At this point it is safe to say the likelihood of the Nerve Gear being removed has been reduced by a lot. Let this give you some comfort while trying to clear this game. It's important to remember the following, there is only one way for a player to escape now. Clear the game, right now you're on floor one the lowest level on Aincrad. If you can get through the dungeon and defeat the boss you may advance to the next floor. Defeat the boss on floor 100 and you will clear the game. Last but not least I've put a little present in you inventory. Please see for yourself." Kayaba insisted.

    Everyone, even me looked into their inventory. Everyone changed except for me because I was my original self. Everyone was shocked but I just gave Kayaba a blank stare. After the rest of Kayaba's speech I headed to the dungeon to get past floor one. When I got there I easily beat the boss and went to the second floor. The items -yes I said items- the boss dropped were a white cape with blue flames on the bottom and two blue swords. I was shocked but I just thought it was because I killed the boss on the first day. Oh boy was I wrong. I got those as a gift from the game master and he also gave me a gift he was only giving to two people. What the other person lacked was the sight he gave me. Kayaba gave me the sight to see the level of any person.

    For the next month I was alone on the second floor because I didn't want to go on without anyone else being here. I think I should have stayed on the first floor because I feel like I'm missing something really important and its eating at me and I just can't wait till more people come. I hear this noise from across floor two because I have amazing hearing. I run over really excited and see one guy coming in with a black cape on with the same designs as mine except black. I smile but frown a second later when I see his face, another reason I was frowning was because I had to make them think I came with other players so I had to hide.

    The boy suddenly looked up and quietly said, "W-who's there, you must be pretty skilled if I can barely detect you." Dang it hiding was always my biggest weakness. I slowly walk out and hear him gasp because I was an actual player, I smiled and slightly waved to him, "H-hello? Who are you, even though my stealth has always been my weakness it isn't something to take lightly." I say sassily. The boy replied with a name, "Kirito." 'Kirito' muttered. "Oh! I remember you. You almost caught up with me in the beta test I had to level up so you wouldn't get past me!" I exclaimed. My eyes widened and i slapped my hand in front of my mouth. 'oh no'. I look at Kirito and his eyes have widened in realization. "Blue the best player in all SAO history believed to have made it to level ninety nine?"

"Actually I made it to level one hundred. I didn't get to go into the boss room though because the beta test ended." I looked behind him and saw the door opening again," I gotta go, if people see me I will be taken into questioning and I don't want that." I run away while he goes to do some quests. I already did all of them so I didn't waste my time here so I have a lot of coins/gold.
