Her fingers lingered on the leaves of the surrounding plants. She ran her fingers along the edges and listened closely to the sounds all around her. She had come to the park with her family and had been told that she could run off to play in the flowers if she pleased. She had happily run to the area and had only sat for moments before seemingly beginning a one sided conversation with herself. No one bothered her seeing that she was just playing around, but they had no clue as to what was truly happening. She had begun to speak to fairies, as the legends call them. They spoke of all the childish fairytale like things you would expect. The fairies described to her were they came from and all about their little homes in the mushrooms and flowers. The girl talked about her home and the room she had all to herself. When she began to talk about how soon she would have to share with her soon to be sibling the fairies jumped with excitement.
"Stay with us, you must, you must!" They pleased with excitement. The little girl thought about it for a moment. She was weary knowing she hadn't completely known who these small creatures were, but knew that if she stayed she would learn all about them with ease. She agreed.
"I would love to," she smiled admittinlgy, "but how would it mom feel?" The fairies immediately brushed it off telling the girl that her mother wouldn't mind a bit, plus she could see her mother on the weekends. The girl was so excited to here the news, but just as the fairies desperate smiles twisted the mother approached the girl.
"Maya, we shan't stay too long. Come on, before your father begins to worry," she outstretched her hand and Maya took it, but with hesitation.
"But mother!!!" The girl whined. The mother's look did not waver. "Five more minures!" Maya pleaded holding five of her small fingers in the air.
"Maya, this is not the time," her mother stated as a couple walking their dog passed. The little girl pursed her lips and stuck out her tounge. Her mother simply rolled her eyes. The little girl looked to the fairies who seemed as though their entire energy had taken a swift change.
"I'll see again some time," Maya said to them. They all waved and said in a creepy unison way that you see in horror movies, "Soon enough..."
And with that Maya left the park and walked with her mom explaining her tales of wonder that the fairies and her spun. Her mother laughed and listened to all of this not suspecting a thing. Finally, they arrived at the home in which they reside in. Maya ran to the table where her father had laid out the food they were to have for dinner. Her mother took her seat. Maya retold the stories to her father as she had her mother. Her mother and father exchanged looks that said that there daughter had such an creative imagination. After they had finished the food, the father took his angel to her room and tucked her into bed. Hours later, the father finally snuggled into his own bed beside his wife that he loved ever so dearly.
