Imagine your characters waking up to find out that person A has somehow switched sex. B at first thinks A is a burglar and attacks them. They're both freaked out bit A and B try to get used to it. Whether A switches back is up to you.
Bonus (if it was a gay couple): Eventually, they realize it's a chance for them to finally have children
