Sam POV
It was autumn. The perfect time to go to the canola field in our backyard. I loved my hometown. But we had to leave this place within a week or so. I controlled my emotions but Chole's ones made it hard for me to control mine.
"What is this Sammy?" Chole my five year old sister asked curiously looking at the locket in my hand.
I kneeled down in the canola filed and slowly placed the locket on her tiny fingers and gengtly said which almost sounded like a whisper. "Its a locket.And if you open it," I demonstrated as I opened the locket. "Its a picture of mom and dad."
Her innocent face stared at the locket, her mouth shaped like an o and her emerald eyes showed how amazed and happy she was.
I gently pulled her closer and tucked a strand of her wavy hear behind her ear as she still stared at the locket, amazed.
"This will always protect you when I won't be with you."
"Really Sammy?" She looked at me astonished with a tint of happiness in her face.
"Mhm."
"Promise?"
"Yes, I promise." My eyes got teary and I didn't want her to see it so I pulled her and hugged her tightly. Hoping this will somehow give her all my love and protection.
"I love you Sammy."
"I love you too, Chole."
