"Help! Thief!" A woman called as I snagged her purse in the blink of an eye. Now, you may be thinking, "Akane, didn't you learn your lesson?" No. I haven't. I was desperate for money. Even after all these years, my mother still couldn't pay off the debt she owns. Ever since that last run in with All Might, I unlocked my quick. It's nothing special. Just super speed. The perfect quick for a thief like myself, don't you think? Now, I'm not trying to say stealing is a good thing, but it's all I'm able to do at this point in my life. Besides, some things in this world are more wrong than others, just as long as there is a good reason. I hid in an alleyway, and dug through the purse. It was late at night, so no one could've heard that call for help, right? I grab the woman's wallet from inside the purse, and look into what she had. And she was loaded! I smile at the jackpot, and take all the money out of it. I left her credit card, though. I'm not that cruel. I put the wallet back into the purse, and dash back to the woman, and drop her purse in front of her as passed by. The haul? About 10,000 dollars. Only 90,000 left to go. Hopefully.
Once I arrive home, I see my mother sleeping over the dining room table. It's a wonder how we still have our house. But that's not the point. I went over and moved her to the couch, then placed a blanket over her. "Sleep well, mom." I say, and kiss her forehead. I walk to my own room to catch some sleep myself. Tomorrow I have school.
The next day, I went to school. Normal stuff. What? A street thug like me needs to learn things too. As I pass by another school on my way home, I could hear screaming coming from above me. I look up and see the "Symbol of Peace" flying overhead with a boy clinging to his right leg. From where I was standing, it looked like he was trying to get the boy off his leg. He stopped struggling, and continued to fly while the boy clings to him. I follow the pair. And track them to the top of a skyscraper. I look into the glass pane on the door, and my literally lit up when I saw who that boy was. "Midori...?" I wondered to myself, and listened in on their conversation. I couldn't hear much, just one thing. "Without a quirk, you can't be a hero." All Might said. Midori's face dropped, and All Might stood up. He approaches the door, so I quickly leave the area. I decided to follow Midori around and try to work up the courage to talk to him. But couldn't. So I just followed him around for the day, until an explosion was heard. "Is the fight from earlier still going on?" I heard Midori wonder, as he walked to see the commotion. I could see his eyes widen when he saw what was happening. I look over and see a some kind of sludge monster wrapping itself around a boy my age. The boy in particular had spiky blonde hair with red eyes, and what seemed like an explosion quirk. I wanted to step in and help the kid, but I'm no hero. Not at all. All of a sudden, Midori started running into the action. "Wh-What's he doing?!" I asked no one. He threw his school bag at the monster's eye, making it loosen its grip on the kid. But the guy wasn't free yet, as the green sludge kept hold on him. I stood and watched what was happening, until I saw the monster raise one of its slimy arms. I immediately jumped into action, and threw a sharp blade at the arm, making it recoil away. Midori didn't so much as turn to see what happened behind him, and continued to claw at the formless sludge beast. I heard him calling the boy "Kacchan" but I'm not sure if that's his real name. After five minutes of this scratching and clawing, a powerful gust of wind blew through the alley, getting the sludge off Kacchan. I know that wind. "Citizens! There is no need to fear! I am here!" All Might exclaimed as he entered the alleyway. With a powerful punch, a Detroit Smash he calls it, the sludge was down and out. After put into containment, Midori was severely chewed out by the other heroes in the area. However, this Kacchan guy was praised?! He did nothing! What the hell?! I was going to step in and set them straight, but a large hand clasped my shoulder. I knew this touch. I turn my head, with a scowl on my face, and see All Might standing behind me, goofy smile and all. I pull myself away from him, and leave the alleyway, leaving the disgusting scene behind me. Heroes really piss me off.
