Everyone has one. Timers. They count down to the exact moment when you meet your soulmate. Some people are in different spots than others. Most people have them on their wrist so they can see it easily. If they are in different spots they are typically on their ankle.
Hers is on her wrist. Its there for everyone to see. All her friends point out when she has a certain amount of days or time left. She doesn't really care about this stuff though. She started to cover it up so her friends wouldn't bother her.
"Look man it's gonna happen some time, it is inevitable." Hannah's best friend Mamrie was always telling her this.
"I know it is bound to happen sometime, I just dont think its that big of a deal," Hannah fought back.
"Are you kidding of course it's a big deal, I mean it's not everyday you get to meet your soulmate."
"I know but like what if something happened to them, or like what if i'm not their soulmate?" Hannah already knew the answer to that question. She had found her soulmate online. She really didn't want to see what they looked like so that way it would be a surprise for when they first meet. They had exchanged emails  though.
"Ok so you don't see it as that big of a deal, but dude it really is. What if your soul mate sees it as a big deal?"
"Well it might be a big deal when I actually meet them, but right now I just don't care." she lied.
Mamrie was always bugging Hannah about this sort of stuff. Hannah thinks it's just because Mamrie has already met her soulmate. It made hannah mad because they are only in highschool and Mamrie has already found the person she is going to spend the rest of her life with.
"Hey babe," Mamrie said, as she saw her soulmate walking towards her lunch table.
"Hi beautiful," he nodded back, ignoring Hannah and just looking at Mamrie.
Mamrie's soulmate's name is Nolan. He was one of the most albino guys you could ever come across in your life. His hair was as white as sea foam on a beautiful sunny day. His deep blue eyes sparkled like rain drops on a window. His nose was laid perfectly on his face with no sign of it being off symmetry. Everything on his face was perfectly aligned. Hannah didn't understand why or how Mamrie could be so lucky.
"So I was thinking of going to a movie tonight, any interest?" Nolan voiced aloud. Hannah thought he was too perfect like something seemed suspicious about him.
"Uh I don't know, I mean I already have plans tonight," Mamrie looked at Hannah for approval but all Hannah could do was stare off in the distance. Finally Mamrie nudged her and got a reaction.
"Uh what, oh yeah that's fine with me," Hannah sounded discontent.
After chatting and laughing with Mamrie, Nolan left and it was just Hannah and Mamrie again.
"Dude are you alright," Mamrie questioned her hushed friend.
      "Yeah man just thinking."
      "What are you thinking about?"
"If I told you something would you promise to keep it a secret? Please?"
"You're kinda scaring me now, I mean if we need to, i'll help hide a body, but you need to let me know first, alright?"
"Dont worry its not that bad, I promise."
      "Ok then go ahead."
      "I found my soulmate online."
Mamrie's face was blank she didn't know what to say, she's never heard of anything like this happening before. It's not like anyone goes looking for their soulmate before they officially meet.
      "Mames you ok?"
"Huh, yeah i'm ok, but like how? What? Why? When? How long? I have so many questions."
"That's alright I know it's a bit confusing. Um I don't know when exactly we first found each other ,and I don't know how or why. It has been at least 3 months."
"3 MONTHS!? Why didn't you tell me this sooner?
"I don't know I guess I just didn't want to talk about it."
The bell rang telling everyone to leave lunch. Hannah and Marie both got up and started walking to their next period.
"What do they look like?" Mamrie pushed.
"Dont know, dont want to know. At least not until we meet."
"What is their gender, Age, Name?"
"Um dont know, dont know, and don't know."
"How do you know they are your soulmate then? Like what if it is just some creepy 40 year old guy?"
      "I don't know it's just a gut feeling I guess."
      "How much time is left?'
      "Not gonna tell you."
      "Aww you suck."
Hannah and Mamrie both went their separate ways to their next class. Sadly for the rest of the day they didn't have any classes together. Once school was finally over, Hannah drove home and immediately and went to her room. She sat down, grabbed her laptop and opened it to see a message waiting for her to read. It was from her soulmate.
      "Only 2 weeks left."
"I couldn't stop thinking about it all day today."
This was always the highlight to Hannah's day. No matter what she was doing she couldn't wait to get home to talk to her soulmate.
I can't wait to finally meet you" they sent back.
"It's only a matter of time"
"I bet you are beautiful, or handsome. Either one, or both." Hannah snorted.
"I bet you're even more beautiful or handsome."
        "No I bet you are"
"Nah you are, I know it."
        "Alright you win. This time."
"Do you think we should get to know each other a little before I get to see your beautiful/handsome face?"
        "Yeah I guess."
"Ok then, let's do like a 20 questions sort of thing."
        "Ok, you can go first."
        "Ok. What is your gender?"
"I am a female. What is your gender?"
        "I am also a female."
        "Oh ok thats cool."
        "What?"
"I just always thought you were a guy."
        "Really?"
        "Yeah."
"Huh well my turn. What is your name?"
        "Grace."
        "That is a beautiful name."
        "What is your name?"
        "Hannah."
        "Hannah. I like that name."
        "What's your age?"
        "16. Yours?"
        "17."
"Alright. Um what is your favorite color?"
        "Really?"
        "Yes, really."
"Fine I really like blue and green."
        "Thats cool."
        "Where do you live?"
"I live in a small town in Colorado you probably haven't ever heard of it?"
"I don't know I live in colorado I might have heard of it."
        "I live in Steamboat Springs."
        "Are you joking?"
        "No, why?"
        "I live in Steamboat too."
        "Seriously!?!?!?"
"Yeah no joke dude." Hannah can't believe it she just called her soulmate dude. This is a really big deal for her. It means that she is getting close to her soulmate, and she loves it.
"Wow that's great." Grace doesn't seem to notice hannah calling her dude.
"Yeah so what school do you go to?"
"I'm homeschooled. Where do you go?"
"I go to the public school, here."
        "Thats cool."
        "It really isn't though."
        "Why, it beats being homeschooled."
"Yeah but I only have like 5 friends in total."
        "Well 6 now."
        "Yeah 6 now."
Hannah looked at her clock and realized it was already 6:00pm. She needed to start working on homework before she got to tired too.
"I feel really bad but I really gotta work on homework before I get too tired to do it."
"You're ok, I need to do homework too."
"Alright I'll see if I can talk later. Bye."
        "Ok, bye."
Hannah worked on homework until 7:00, then ate dinner, then went to work on more homework. When she was finally done with all of her homework it was already 10:30. She decided to shoot Grace one last message.
        "Night beautiful."
        "Night"
The next morning when Hannah got up she looked at her laptop for messages but there was nothing. She checked her timer and all was good with it, it was still ticking down to the time she would finally meet grace in person. She looked at the time and decided to get ready for school. After eating breakfast Hannah got in her car and headed to school. She got out and immediately saw Mamrie.
        "Whats up dude?"
        "Nothing much, you?"
"Nah. You talk to them last night?"
        "Yeah."
        "Did you find anything out?"
       "Yes."
       "Um, details please."
       "Ok her name is grace."
       "HER!?"
"Yeah. She lives her but she is homeschooled. And she is 16."
"Oh a home schooled sophomore or junior."
       "Shut up."
They walked into school together and went to their first class when the bell rang. Hannah hated this class and the teacher so she didn't really pay attention. She was distracted by thought the whole time.
"Hey dude what's wrong," Mamrie asked concerned.
"Huh," Hannah snapped back to reality.
       "You looked really dead."
       "Oh sorry got distracted."
       "Oooooo you thinking about her?"
       "Yeah," Hannah started to blush.
All throughout the day Hannah couldn't focus on anything. Luckily her teachers never called on her during class. When she got home she immediately opened her laptop. Still no messages.
A week went by and Hannah hasn't heard from Grace. She waited one more day then decided to send an email to Grace.
"Hey haven't heard from you in awhile just checking in to make sure you're ok."
"Oh yeah i'm fine i've just been really busy this past week."
"Ok good I was really worried."
       "Yeah i'm fine."
       "What were you busy doing?"
"Um something ill tell you about later."
Hannah waited another 5 days to hear from Grace, and finally Grace emailed her.
"We may only have 14 hours left until we finally get to see each other but I have a surprise for you."
       "Oh yeah what is it?"
       "I'm moving to your school."
       "Really?"
"Yeah I finally got it all worked out and my mom said I could so I am going to your school now. I start tomorrow."
       "Thats awesome."
"I guess i'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah I guess i'll see you too."
Hannah was so excited for tomorrow she barely got any sleep. When she finally went to sleep it was already three in the morning. She woke up and dressed in her best outfit that she could find. She was so excited she skipped breakfast and headed straight to her car. When she got to school she saw Mamrie. Hannah had the brightest smile on her face and Mamrie could tell something was going on.
       "Why are you smiling, dork?"
Hannah pulled up her sleeve and showed Mamrie her timer. She only had 17 minutes and 3 seconds.
"Oh my gosh dude you must be real excited."
       "Uh no duh sherlock."
Hannah was walking with Mamrie to the school then inside, to go meet with their friends. Suddenly Hannah had this gut feeling to walk out to the front of the school. Mamrie knew what was going on so she decided to follow Hannah. Hannah got to the front and looked at her timer exactly 4 minutes were left until she would finally meet Grace. She walked over to the buses and saw her.
Grace had sandy hair and eyes as green as fresh cut grass on a sunny day. She was very tan and she had a perfect face, especially eyebrows. Grace looked over and saw her. They knew that they were made for eachother. That sounded very cliche for Hannah but she knew it was true. Grace ran across the street.

The screeching of tires and glass shattering was all Hannah heard. She blinked and opened her eyes and saw Grace laying there lifeless covered in blood. She looked nothing like she did several seconds ago. Hannah ran over to Grace. Trying to find a pulse, worried that it was all over. She couldn't find anything. Hannah looked down at her timer on her wrist.

The timer was stopped.

It stopped at 1 second.
